유럽에서 시작되는 강원의 미래 전략 – 김진태 지사의 글로벌 도전, 그 찰나와 전환

강원특별자치도가 야심찬 글로벌 행보에 나섰다. 김진태 도지사를 필두로 한 강원도 대표단은 오는 6월 25일부터 7월 3일까지 독일 잘란트주, 에센, 뒤셀도르프, 그리고 이탈리아 남티롤(볼차노/보젠특별자치도)을 순회 방문하며 ‘미래산업 글로벌 도시 강원’ 실현을 위한 협력 네트워크를 확장한다.

Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province is embarking on an ambitious global initiative. Led by Governor Kim Jin-tae, the provincial delegation will visit Saarland, Essen, Düsseldorf in Germany, and South Tyrol (Autonomous Province of Bolzano/Bozen) in Italy from June 25 to July 3 to expand cooperation networks vital to realizing its “Global City of Future Industries” vision.

이번 출장은 단순한 해외 우호 방문을 넘어, 바이오헬스, 자치분권, 친환경 교통 등 강원도의 핵심 어젠다에 유럽의 선진사례를 정교하게 접목하려는 전략적 행보다.

This trip goes far beyond ceremonial diplomacy. It is a strategic mission to meticulously integrate advanced European practices in biohealth, decentralization, and eco-friendly transportation into Gangwon’s key policy agenda.

김진태 도지사는 “이번 유럽 방문은 강원도의 정책 방향이 국제무대에서 어떻게 구현될 수 있는지를 직접 보여주는 기회”라며, “강원의 미래를 위한 국제 전략 마련에 있어 중대한 전환점이 될 것”이라고 밝혔다.

Governor Kim emphasized, “This European visit offers a direct opportunity to showcase how Gangwon’s policy vision can be realized on the global stage. It will be a pivotal turning point in crafting international strategies for our province’s future.”

이번 일정의 주요 장면들을 살펴보면, 독일 잘란트주에서는 헬름홀츠 신약연구소(HIPS) 및 KIST 유럽연구소와의 협력을 논의하고, 양 지역 간 우호협정을 체결한다. 또한 보훔과 에센에서는 탄광 폐광지의 재생 사례를 살피고, 파독 광부들의 역사와 헌신에 대한 감사의 뜻을 전한다.

Key moments include discussions with the Helmholtz Institute for Pharmaceutical Research Saarland (HIPS) and KIST Europe, and the signing of a friendly exchange agreement with Saarland. In Bochum and Essen, the delegation will explore post-mining regeneration projects and pay tribute to the Korean miners who contributed to Germany’s industrial rise.

이탈리아 남티롤에서는 자치분권과 지역경제 활성화 사례를 공유하고, 세계적인 케이블카 기업 HTI와 친환경 교통 인프라 구축을 위한 업무협약을 체결할 예정이다.

In South Tyrol, the agenda includes sharing decentralization and regional development models, as well as signing an MOU with global cable car manufacturer HTI to develop eco-friendly transportation in mountainous areas.

이번 출장의 메시지는 분명하다. 강원도는 더 이상 변방이 아니라, 미래산업의 글로벌 허브로서 도약하고자 하는 준비된 주체이며, 유럽의 경험을 유기적으로 흡수해 자치와 산업의 균형발전을 꾀하고 있다.
