Korea Needs a Moral Reset — And the People Must Lead It

By Jee,Hyungduk, Journalist at SisaK News / Korea Change Campaign Advocate

South Korea today is suffering from a moral affliction — not a physical virus, but an ethical one.
Its name? Acquired Moral Insensitivity.

This is no exaggeration. Across political boundaries, too many of our top leaders — whether in government, business, or civil society — have lost touch with the basic principles of right and wrong. Their words sound noble, but their actions are riddled with self-interest. They speak of justice, yet turn a blind eye to injustice. They wear the badge of leadership, yet abandon its responsibilities.

In short, Korea is facing a moral crisis.

The consequences are real. Corruption, apathy, and abuse of power do not remain confined to the elite — they ripple through society, weakening public trust and undermining democracy. And as always, it is the people who pay the price.

But this is not who we are.

We are not a people destined for decay.
We are the same Koreans who, during the 1997 IMF crisis, donated gold and heirlooms to protect our nation.
We are the citizens who gather in candlelight, who refuse to remain silent in the face of wrongdoing.
We are a people whose love for this country runs deeper than any ideology or party.

That spirit must return — and it must return now.

With a snap presidential election on the horizon, we are presented with a defining moment.

This is not just about choosing a new president.
This is about choosing a new directionfor Korea — one that restores moral clarity to leadership.

We need a leader who listens, who serves, and who respects the people.

We need a leader whose private life reflects the honesty of their public promises.

We need a leader who understands that character is not optional — it is essential.

To this end, we are launching the KOREA CHANGEcampaign.

This is not a party-driven initiative. It is a citizen-led call for a nationwide moral reset.

We call upon every Korean — young and old, conservative and progressive — to demand accountability, to speak up for truth, and to vote with conscience.

Like a wildfire, this campaign must spread — not with violence, but with conviction.

Not through anger, but through awakening.
We must sweep away the dust of apathy, and clear the path for a cleaner, fairer Korea.

Early-stage symptoms are still treatable. And now is our golden time.

Let us not allow this moment to pass.
Let us act while the fire of civic will still burns.
Let us remind our leaders — and ourselves — that morality is the true foundation of leadership.

This is not just a political choice. It is a moral one.

#The people must rise. Korea must change.
#And that change begins now — with us.
