강삼영 교육감 당선인, 첫 현장 행보 나서

강삼영 강원특별자치도교육감 당선인은 오는 22일, 인수위원회 위원들과 함께 원주지역 교육 현안을 직접 점검하기 위한 첫 현장 방문에 나선다.

Gang Sam-young, Governor-elect of Education for Gangwon State, will embark on his first field visit on June 22 alongside members of the Transition Committee to personally review key educational issues in Wonju.

이번 현장 방문은 교육 현장의 목소리를 직접 듣고 시급한 교육 현안을 점검하기 위한 것으로, 특히 원주 혁신도시에서 지속적으로 제기돼 온 남자고등학교 부족 문제와 장거리 통학, 과밀 문제를 중점적으로 살펴볼 예정이다.

The visit is designed to listen directly to voices from the educational community and assess urgent challenges. Particular attention will be given to the long-standing shortage of boys’ high schools in Wonju Innovation City, along with concerns over lengthy commutes and overcrowded classrooms.

강삼영 당선인은 먼저 오후 1시 원주가정형Wee센터 ‘숨길학교’를 방문해 운영 현황을 점검한다.

At 1 p.m., Governor-elect Gang will begin his schedule with a visit to the Wonju Family-Type Wee Center, Soomgil School, to review its operations and support systems.

원주가정형Wee센터는 가정·학교·개인적 어려움으로 위기를 겪는 중·고등학교 여학생들이 학업을 이어갈 수 있도록 돌봄과 상담, 치유, 교육을 통합 지원하는 기숙형 대안교육기관이다.

The center serves as a residential alternative education institution, providing integrated care, counseling, healing, and educational support for middle and high school girls facing family, school, or personal challenges, helping them continue their academic journey.

강 당선인은 학생 지원 체계와 교육 프로그램 운영 현황을 살펴보고, 현장에서 필요한 인력과 시설 등 다양한 의견을 청취할 예정이다.

During the visit, he will examine student support systems and educational programs while listening closely to on-site concerns regarding staffing, facilities, and operational needs.

이어 오후 2시에는 원주 혁신도시 내 남자고등학교 설립 부지로 거론되고 있는 옛 종축장 부지를 방문한다.

At 2 p.m., he will visit the former livestock breeding site, currently being discussed as a potential location for a new boys’ high school in Wonju Innovation City.

원주 혁신도시는 학생 수 증가에 비해 남자고등학교가 부족해 장거리 통학과 과밀 문제가 지속적으로 제기되어 왔다.

As student numbers continue to rise in Wonju Innovation City, the shortage of boys’ high schools has led to persistent concerns about long-distance commuting and overcrowding.

강 당선인은 현장을 직접 둘러보며 학교 설립 가능성을 검토하고, 학생들의 통학 불편을 줄일 수 있는 현실적인 대안을 모색할 계획이다.

By inspecting the site firsthand, he aims to evaluate practical conditions for establishing a new school and explore realistic solutions that can ease students’ commuting burdens.

이어 원주교육지원청을 방문해 통학 문제를 포함한 지역 교육 현안을 청취하고 다양한 의견을 나눌 예정이다.

He will then visit the Wonju Office of Education to discuss local educational challenges, including transportation issues, and exchange perspectives with education officials.

오후 4시에는 구자열 원주시장 당선인과 만나 혁신도시 학생 통학 문제와 남자고등학교 설립 필요성 등에 대한 협력 방안을 논의한다.

At 4 p.m., he is scheduled to meet Wonju Mayor-elect Koo Ja-yeol to discuss cooperative strategies regarding student transportation challenges and the need for a boys’ high school in the Innovation City.

교육청과 지자체가 함께 해결해야 할 과제인 만큼 긴밀한 협력 체계 구축 방안도 함께 모색할 예정이다.

Recognizing these issues as shared responsibilities between the education office and local government, both sides will explore ways to establish a close and sustainable partnership.

“Transportation difficulties and the shortage of schools in Wonju Innovation City are challenges that can no longer be postponed,” Gang stated. “By listening directly to students, parents, and educators, we will work toward practical solutions that people can genuinely feel and experience.”
