올여름 삼척에서는 한국인이 가장 사랑하는 화가 가운데 한 사람인 이중섭의 삶과 작품을 만날 수 있다.

Within their rough brushstrokes lie longing, hardship, and an artist’s unwavering passion that never faded.

This summer, Samcheok invites visitors to encounter the life and artistic world of one of Korea’s most beloved painters, Lee Jung-seop.

삼척시는 오는 6월 25일부터 7월 24일까지 한 달 동안 문화예술회관에서 「꺼지지 않는 예술혼 대향 이중섭 레플리카 展」을 개최한다.

지난해 큰 사랑을 받았던 반 고흐 특별전에 이어 마련된 이번 전시는 한국 근현대미술의 거장 이중섭의 예술세계를 보다 가까이에서 만날 수 있는 특별한 기회다.

From June 25 to July 24, Samcheok Culture & Arts Center will host the exhibition *“The Unfading Spirit of Art: Lee Jung-seop Replica Exhibition.”*

Following the successful Van Gogh exhibition held last year, this event offers visitors a rare opportunity to experience the artistic legacy of one of Korea’s greatest modern painters.

전시장에는 이중섭의 대표작 50점이 고품질 레플리카 작품으로 재현된다.

특히 관람객들은 그의 예술 인생을 따라 걷듯 전시를 감상할 수 있다.

황소의 강인한 생명력을 담아낸 작품에서 시작해 가족에 대한 애틋한 사랑, 제주 서귀포와 부산, 통영, 서울과 대구를 거치며 남긴 흔적들, 그리고 삶의 마지막 시기를 담은 작품들까지.

한 화가의 인생이 하나의 긴 이야기처럼 펼쳐진다.

The exhibition features 50 meticulously reproduced replica works of Lee Jung-seop’s masterpieces.

Visitors will journey through the artist’s life—from his iconic depictions of bulls symbolizing resilience and vitality, to paintings expressing deep affection for family, and works created during his stays in Seogwipo, Busan, Tongyeong, Seoul, and Daegu.

Together, they form a moving narrative of an artist’s life.

이번 전시는 단순히 보는 전시에 머물지 않는다.

이중섭만의 독창적인 예술 기법인 은지화를 직접 체험해 볼 수 있는 ‘나만의 은지화 만들기’ 프로그램과 자석 퍼즐 체험도 마련된다.

아이들은 놀이처럼 예술을 배우고, 어른들은 잊고 지냈던 감성을 다시 만날 수 있다.

This exhibition goes beyond passive viewing.

Visitors can participate in interactive programs, including creating their own silver-foil artwork inspired by Lee’s unique “silver paper drawings,” as well as engaging puzzle activities.

Children can discover art through play, while adults reconnect with forgotten emotions and memories.

또한 주요 작품 15점에 대한 오디오 가이드 서비스와 전문 도슨트의 해설이 제공돼 작품 속에 숨겨진 이야기와 시대적 배경을 더욱 깊이 이해할 수 있도록 돕는다.

The exhibition also offers audio guides for 15 major works and on-site docent explanations, helping visitors gain deeper insight into the stories and historical context behind the paintings.

삶은 짧았지만 예술은 길었다.

가난과 질병, 외로움 속에서도 붓을 놓지 않았던 화가.

그의 그림 속에는 오늘을 살아가는 우리에게 건네는 작은 위로가 담겨 있다.
