Gangwon State Office of Education Holds 2026 Teacher Training on Student Suffrage Education

“제9회 동시지방선거제도와 새내기 유권자를 위한 맞춤형 현장 지원”

강원특별자치도교육청은 4월 28일(화) 강원특별자치도교육청유아교육원에서 2026학년도 ‘학생 참정권교육’ 교원역량강화 연수를 운영한다.

The Gangwon State Office of Education will conduct a 2026 teacher competency enhancement training on student suffrage education on April 28 (Tue) at the Gangwon Early Childhood Education Institute.

◦ 연수는 초·중·고·특수학교 교사를 대상으로 진행되며, 고등학교 학생자치 담당 교원과 3학년 담임교사를 비롯해 학생자치회, 참정권교육, 시민교육 업무 담당자 등이 참여할 예정이다.

◦ The training will target teachers from elementary, middle, high, and special schools, including those in charge of student autonomy, senior homeroom teachers, and staff responsible for civic and suffrage education.

이번 연수는 공직선거법 및 정당법 개정에 따라 선거연령이 하향 조정된 데 따른 학생 대상 선거교육의 필요성을 높이고, 선거의 가치와 중요성에 대한 교육을 통해 학생 유권자의 시민성을 함양하기 위해 마련됐다.

 This training aims to enhance the need for election education among students following the lowering of the voting age due to revisions in the Public Official Election Act and Political Parties Act, and to foster civic awareness among student voters.

주요 내용은 △선거교육의 이론과 실제 △제9회 동시지방선거 선거제도 이해 △사례로 보는 선거 미디어 리터러시 등이다.

 Key topics include △the theory and practice of election education △understanding the system of the 9th nationwide local elections △case-based election media literacy.

◦ 아울러 학생과 교사가 함께 알아야 할 공직선거법 내용을 포함해, 사고력과 판단력 강화를 중심으로 연수가 운영될 계획이다.

◦ The training will also include essential knowledge of election law for both students and teachers, focusing on enhancing critical thinking and judgment.

◦ 특히 교육의 정치적 중립성 준수의 중요성을 강조하고, 선거 미디어 리터러시를 통해 정보 해석 및 판단 능력을 키우는 한편, 선택에 따른 책임과 사회적 문제를 함께 논의하는 시간도 마련된다.

◦ In particular, the program emphasizes the importance of maintaining political neutrality in education and aims to strengthen students’ ability to interpret and evaluate election-related information, while also discussing responsibility and social implications of choices.

◦ 또한 도교육청은 도내 유관기관과 협력해 ‘학교로 찾아가는 참정권 교육’을 4월 중 운영했으며, 디지털 미디어 리터러시 교육을 통해 학교 현장을 지속적으로 지원하고 있다.

◦ In addition, the Office of Education has operated a “visiting suffrage education program” in cooperation with relevant institutions in April and continues to support schools through digital media literacy education.

#송수경 인성생활교육과장은 “제9회 동시지방선거를 앞두고 생애 첫 투표에 참여하는 학생들을 위해 교육의 정치적 중립성과 시민성 함양이 더욱 중요해졌다”며, “팩트 체크 활성화와 미디어 리터러시 교육을 포함해 학생 중심의 시민성 교육을 적극 지원하겠다”고 밝혔다.

 Song Soo-kyung, Director of the Character and Life Education Division, stated, “With the upcoming 9th nationwide local elections, it has become increasingly important to ensure political neutrality in education and to foster civic values among first-time student voters,” adding, “We will actively support student-centered civic education, including fact-checking and media literacy.”
