Donghae City Supports Asset Building for Young People with Severe Disabilities

동해시가 청년 중증장애인의 자립을 위한 따뜻한 동행에 나섰다.

경제적 어려움을 겪는 청년들에게 작은 저축이 미래의 기반이 될 수 있도록 돕는 ‘자산형성 지원사업’이 올해도 이어진다.

Donghae City has stepped forward with a warm commitment to support the independence of young people with severe disabilities.

The “Asset Building Support Program,” which helps small savings grow into a foundation for the future, continues this year as well.

이번 사업은 만 15세 이상 40세 미만의 중증장애인 중 기준중위소득 100% 이하 가구를 대상으로 한다.

특히 청년층을 중심으로 경제적 자립 기반을 마련할 수 있도록 설계된 점이 특징이다.

This program is designed for individuals aged 15 to under 40 with severe disabilities, whose household income is at or below 100% of the median income.

It is particularly structured to help young participants build a foundation for financial independence.

참여자가 매월 15만 원 이상을 저축하면, 강원특별자치도와 동해시가 동일한 금액을 매칭해 지원한다.

3년간 꾸준히 적립할 경우, 이는 단순한 저축을 넘어 자립을 위한 든든한 종잣돈이 된다.

If participants save at least 150,000 won each month, Gangwon State and Donghae City will match the same amount.

Over three years, this steady accumulation becomes more than savings—it turns into a meaningful seed fund for independence.

동해시는 2023년 사업 시작 이후 현재까지 총 23명의 청년 중증장애인을 지원해 왔으며,

첫 참여자들은 올해 만기를 맞아 그 결실을 손에 쥐게 된다.

Since the program began in 2023, Donghae City has supported a total of 23 young people with severe disabilities.

The first group of participants will reach maturity this year and finally receive the results of their efforts.

신청 기간은 4월 20일부터 5월 4일까지이며, 주소지 관할 동 행정복지센터를 방문해 접수할 수 있다.

올해 모집 인원은 5명으로, 보다 많은 이들에게 기회가 확대되길 기대하고 있다.

Applications will be accepted from April 20 to May 4 at the local administrative welfare center of each applicant’s residence.

A total of five participants will be selected this year, with hopes to expand opportunities in the future.

동해시 관계자는 “이 사업이 경제적으로 취약한 청년 중증장애인에게 실질적인 도움이 되길 바란다”며

“자립을 향한 첫걸음을 함께하는 든든한 디딤돌이 되겠다”고 전했다.

A Donghae City official stated, “We hope this program will provide real support to economically vulnerable young people with severe disabilities,”

adding, “We will continue to serve as a strong stepping stone for their first steps toward independence.”
