“주말에도 아이 맡긴다”…강원교육청, ‘유치원·어린이집 통합 돌봄’ 파격 시행

강원특별자치도교육청은 주말·휴일 양육 부담을 덜기 위해 4월 4일(토)부터 ‘2026년 거점형 돌봄 기관 시범 운영’을 시작한다고 밝혔다.

The Gangwon State Office of Education announced that it will begin a pilot operation of “2026 hub-type childcare centers” starting Saturday, April 4, to ease childcare burdens on weekends and holidays.

이번 사업은 교육·보육의 질을 높이는 ‘정부책임형 유보통합’의 하나로, 유치원과 어린이집 재원 여부와 관계없이 주말과 공휴일에도 유아들이 차별 없이 양질의 돌봄 서비스를 받을 수 있도록 지원하는 지역사회 연계 돌봄 모델이다.

This initiative is part of the government-led integration of early childhood education and care, aimed at improving the quality of both education and childcare. It is a community-linked childcare model that ensures all young children receive high-quality care on weekends and holidays, regardless of whether they attend kindergartens or daycare centers.

 거점형 돌봄 시범 운영 기관인 속초 조양어린이집은 내년 2월까지 주말과 공휴일 오전 9시부터 오후 6시까지 운영된다.

 The pilot hub childcare center, Joyang Daycare Center in Sokcho, will operate from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends and public holidays until February next year.

◦ 운영 기관에서는 △다른 유치원·어린이집 유아 통합 수용 △주말 돌봄 수요에 맞춘 특화 프로그램 운영 △급식 및 간식 등을 지원하며, 유치원과 어린이집 학부모의 신청을 받아 운영한다.

◦ The center will △accept children from various kindergartens and daycare centers △operate specialized programs tailored to weekend childcare needs △provide meals and snacks, and will be run based on applications from parents of enrolled children.

학부모는 온라인과 유선전화 등 다양한 방법으로 참여를 신청할 수 있다.

Parents can apply through various methods, including online platforms and telephone registration.

 도교육청은 이와 함께 지역 내 틈새 돌봄 지원을 위해 유치원 간 ‘연계형 돌봄’ 시범 운영도 추진할 계획이다.

 In addition, the Office of Education plans to implement a pilot “linked childcare system” among kindergartens to support childcare gaps within local communities.

연계형 돌봄은 단독으로 돌봄 운영이 어려운 기관이 다른 기관과 연계해 인적·물적 자원을 공동 활용하고, 프로그램을 함께 운영하는 방식이다.

This linked model allows institutions that face difficulties operating childcare programs independently to collaborate with others, sharing human and material resources and jointly running programs.

#탁진원 유초등교육과장은 “거점형 돌봄은 유치원과 어린이집의 물리적 장벽을 허물고, 지역사회가 함께 아이를 키우는 유보통합 대비 통합형 돌봄 모델”이라며,

Tak Jin-won, Director of Early Childhood and Elementary Education, stated, “The hub-type childcare system breaks down the physical barriers between kindergartens and daycare centers and serves as an integrated childcare model in preparation for unified early education and care, where the community raises children together.”

“앞으로도 다양한 돌봄 수요를 해소할 수 있도록 지속적으로 노력하겠다”라고 밝혔다.

He added, “We will continue to make efforts to address diverse childcare needs moving forward.”
