삼척시, 마읍천에 생활형 수변공원 조성…주민 휴식공간 확충

Samcheok City builds a lifestyle waterfront park along Maeupcheon… expanding residents’ leisure space

강원 삼척시는 근덕면 마읍천 일대에 지역 주민과 관광객이 함께 이용할 수 있는 생활형 휴식 공간 ‘마읍천 수변공원’을 조성하고, 3월 26일 오후 2시 근덕면 교가리 일원에서 준공식을 개최했다.

Samcheok City has developed the “Maeupcheon Waterfront Park,” a lifestyle-oriented leisure space accessible to both local residents and visitors, and held its completion ceremony at 2 p.m. on March 26 in Gyoga-ri, Geundeok-myeon.

이번 사업은 주민들의 여가 공간을 확충하고 관광 기반을 강화하기 위해 추진됐으며, 2022년 12월 착공 이후 약 3년에 걸쳐 조성됐다.

The project was carried out to expand leisure space for residents and strengthen the tourism infrastructure, taking about three years since construction began in December 2022.

수변공원은 총 18,000㎡ 규모로, 수변공원 12,900㎡와 재동유원지 5,100㎡를 포함해 조성됐다.

The park covers a total area of 18,000㎡, including 12,900㎡ of waterfront park and 5,100㎡ of Jaedong recreation area.

공원에는 전망 테라스 10개소와 둘레길 3,080m, 목재 데크로드 875m, 인도교 1개소(연장 107m, 폭 3m) 등 다양한 생활 인프라가 구축됐다.

The park is equipped with various facilities, including 10 observation terraces, a 3,080-meter walking trail, an 875-meter wooden deck road, and a pedestrian bridge measuring 107 meters in length and 3 meters in width.

시는 현재 조성된 시설에 더해 오는 6월 말까지 경관조명 설치를 완료할 계획이다.

The city also plans to complete the installation of landscape lighting by the end of June.

경관조명이 설치되면 야간에도 안전한 이용이 가능해질 뿐만 아니라, 마읍천 일대의 경관이 한층 개선돼 새로운 관광 자원으로 자리매김할 것으로 기대된다.

Once the lighting is installed, the park will be safer to use at night and is expected to enhance the scenery of the Maeupcheon area, establishing itself as a new tourist attraction.

또한 인근 관광 자원과의 연계를 통해 근덕면 일대를 찾는 방문객의 체류 시간 확대에도 긍정적인 효과를 가져올 전망이다.

It is also expected to increase visitors’ length of stay in the Geundeok area by linking with nearby tourist resources.

시 관계자는 “마읍천 수변공원이 주민들에게는 일상 속 쉼터가 되고, 방문객에게는 머물고 싶은 공간이 되기를 기대한다”며 “앞으로도 자연과 어우러진 생활형 공간을 지속적으로 확충해 나가겠다”고 밝혔다.

A city official stated, “We hope Maeupcheon Waterfront Park will serve as a daily resting place for residents and a destination where visitors want to stay,” adding, “We will continue to expand lifestyle-friendly spaces that harmonize with nature.”
