“춘천 의암호에 18ha 호수정원 조성… 강원도, 2030년까지 지방정원 6곳 확대”

강원특별자치도(도지사 김진태)는 3월 16일 춘천 호수 지방정원 조성계획을 승인할 계획이라고 밝히며, 도내 지방정원을 2030년까지 6개소로 확대 운영한다고 밝혔다.

Gangwon State (Governor Kim Jin-tae) announced on March 16 that it plans to approve the Chuncheon Lake Local Garden development plan and expand the number of local gardens in the province to six by 2030.

춘천 호수 지방정원은 의암호 수변 경관을 활용한 호수형 정원으로, 춘천시 중도동 일원 약 18ha 규모로 조성된다. 총사업비 154억 원이 투입되며 2027년 준공을 목표로 테마정원, 체험시설, 편의시설 등을 갖춘 정원으로 조성될 예정이다.

The Chuncheon Lake Local Garden will be developed as a lakeside garden utilizing the scenic waterfront of Lake Uiam. The garden will cover approximately 18 hectares in Jungdo-dong, Chuncheon, with a total project cost of KRW 15.4 billion. It will include themed gardens, experience facilities, and visitor amenities, with completion targeted for 2027.

지방정원은 산과 호수 등 지역 자연환경을 활용해 차별화된 정원을 조성하는 사업이다. 현재 강원도에서는 5개 시군에서 총 566억 원 규모의 지방정원 조성과 운영이 추진되고 있다.

Local gardens are designed to highlight each region’s natural environment—such as mountains and lakes—creating distinctive garden landscapes. In Gangwon State, local garden projects are currently underway in five cities and counties with a total investment of KRW 56.6 billion.

영월 동·서강 지방정원은 동강과 서강이 만나는 수변 경관을 활용해 조성된 정원으로 강원특별자치도 제1호 지방정원이다. 최근 영화 촬영지로 알려진 청령포 관광지와 연계되며 정원과 지역 관광자원을 함께 즐길 수 있는 복합 관광지로 주목받고 있다.

The Yeongwol Dong–Seogang Local Garden, located where the Donggang and Seogang rivers meet, is the first designated local garden in Gangwon State. It has gained attention as a combined tourism destination linked with nearby Cheongnyeongpo, a well-known filming location.

양구 DMZ 펀치볼 지방정원은 해안면 분지 지형과 자연환경을 활용해 조성되는 정원으로 DMZ 접경지역의 생태·평화 관광 자원과 연계한 정원으로 추진되고 있다.

The Yanggu DMZ Punchbowl Local Garden will utilize the basin landscape of Haean-myeon and is being developed as a garden connected to eco-peace tourism resources in the DMZ border area.

인제 용대 지방정원은 설악산과 백담사 인근 자연경관을 기반으로 휴식과 치유 중심의 정원으로 조성되고 있으며, 평창 청옥산 지방정원은 해발 1,250m 육백마지기 일원의 자연경관을 활용한 정원으로 추진되고 있다.

The Inje Yongdae Local Garden is being developed near Seoraksan and Baekdamsa Temple as a healing and relaxation-oriented garden, while the Pyeongchang Cheongoksan Local Garden will utilize the natural landscape around Yukbaekmajigi at an altitude of 1,250 meters.

또한 강릉 주문진 향호 지방정원은 주문진 석호(향호) 일대 수변 경관을 활용해 조성될 예정으로 현재 토지 확보와 설계, 인허가 절차가 진행 중이다.

Meanwhile, the Gangneung Jumunjin Hyangho Local Garden will be developed around the Hyangho lagoon area in Jumunjin, utilizing its waterfront scenery. Land acquisition, design, and approval procedures are currently underway.

#김진태 강원특별자치도지사는 “그간 춘천 호수 지방정원은 부지 확보 문제로 추진이 다소 지연됐지만, 춘천시가 향후 추진 계획을 제시해 타당성이 있다고 판단했다”며 “2030년까지 도내 6개소 지방정원 조성을 완료해 경관 경쟁력을 강화해 나가겠다”고 밝혔다.

Governor Kim Jin-tae said, “The Chuncheon Lake Local Garden project had been delayed due to land acquisition issues, but Chuncheon City has presented a feasible development plan.” He added, “We will complete six local gardens in Gangwon State by 2030 to strengthen the province’s landscape competitiveness.”

한편 국가정원으로 승격되기 위해서는 지방정원 지정이 선행되어야 한다.

Meanwhile, designation as a local garden is a prerequisite for a site to be promoted to a national garden.
