강원특별자치도교육청(교육감 신경호)은 6월 25일(수) 호주 퀸즐랜드주 브리즈번에서 퀸즐랜드주 교육부 및 브리즈번 원격학교(Brisbane School of Distance Education)를 방문하여 교육 교류 협력 방안을 논의했다.
On Wednesday, June 25, the Gangwon Office of Education (Superintendent Shin Kyung-ho) visited the Queensland Department of Education and the Brisbane School of Distance Education in Brisbane, Australia to explore avenues for educational exchange and cooperation.

이날 오전 퀸즐랜드주 교육부에서 열린 회의에서는 신경호 교육감과 시몬 퓰러(Simon Fuller) 총괄 디렉터를 비롯한 양측 관계자들이 참석한 가운데, 양 기관의 교육 정책과 주요 추진 사업을 소개하고 협력 분야에 대한 심도 있는 논의를 진행했다.
At the meeting held that morning at the Queensland Department of Education, Superintendent Shin Kyung-ho and Simon Fuller, Executive Director, along with other officials from both sides, introduced their respective education policies and key initiatives, engaging in in-depth discussions on areas of mutual cooperation.

협의 주요 주제로는 ▲원격교육 운영 ▲교사 전문성 개발 ▲교사 국외연수 프로그램 ▲원어민 교사 교류 ▲학생 국제교류 확대 방안 등이 다뤄졌다.

Key discussion topics included: ▲remote education operations, ▲teacher professional development, ▲overseas teacher training programs, ▲native English-speaking teacher exchange, and ▲expansion of student international exchange programs.

강원특별자치도교육청은 특히 지난해 개교한 ‘강원온라인학교’의 운영 사례를 공유하며, 퀸즐랜드주의 선진 원격교육 시스템을 접목한 향후 발전 방향을 모색하였다.
The Gangwon Office of Education highlighted the operational experience of the newly launched "Gangwon Online School" (established last year) and explored future development strategies by integrating Queensland’s advanced remote learning systems.

오후에는 브리즈번 원격학교를 방문하여 실제 수업 운영 현황을 참관하고, 학교 운영 시스템과 교수학습 지원체계 등에 대해 의견을 교환하였다.
In the afternoon, the delegation visited the Brisbane School of Distance Education to observe actual class operations and exchange insights on school management systems and teaching-learning support structures.

브리즈번 원격학교는 퀸즐랜드주 전역을 대상으로 수준 높은 원격교육 서비스를 제공하고 있으며, 다양한 교육적·행정적 지원 시스템을 갖추고 있어 향후 강원특별자치도교육청의 온라인교육 시스템 고도화에 실질적인 참고가 될 전망이다.
The Brisbane School of Distance Education offers high-quality remote education services across Queensland and is equipped with a comprehensive educational and administrative support system, serving as a valuable reference for enhancing Gangwon’s online education systems.

한편, 이번 방문을 통해 양 기관은 실무 협의와 지속적인 교류를 이어가기로 하였으며, 조만간 퀸즐랜드주 교육부가 강원특별자치도교육청을 방문해 업무협약을 체결하고 원격학교 교류, 교사 연수 등 포괄적인 협력 관계를 구축할 계획이다.
Meanwhile, the two institutions agreed to continue working-level consultations and sustained exchanges. The Queensland Department of Education is scheduled to visit the Gangwon Office of Education soon to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), laying the groundwork for comprehensive collaboration including remote school exchanges and teacher training programs.
