LS전선, 韓日 데이터 대동맥 건설 주도

LS전선과 LS마린솔루션이 마이크로소프트(MS), 아마존웹서비스(AWS) 등이 주도하는 ‘한일 해저통신망 구축 프로젝트’(JAKO)에 공동 참여한다.

LS Cable & System and LS Marine Solution announced their joint participation in the Korea-Japan undersea cable project (JAKO), led by Microsoft (MS), Amazon Web Services (AWS), and other global tech companies.

JAKO 프로젝트는 MS, AWS, 한국 드림라인, 일본 아르테리아 네트웍스 등 글로벌 클라우드·통신 기업과 통신사들이 컨소시엄을 구성해 추진하는 대규모 해저 통신 인프라 사업이다.

The JAKO project is a large-scale undersea communication infrastructure initiative formed by a consortium of global cloud and telecom leaders including MS, AWS, Korea's Dreamline, and Japan's Arteria Networks.

LS전선과 LS마린솔루션은 서울 용산 LS타워에서 열린 협약식에서 본격적인 사업 참여를 공식화하며 사업 개요, 참여 기업, 향후 일정 등을 공유했다.

LS Cable & System and LS Marine Solution formalized their involvement during a consortium agreement ceremony held at LS Tower in Yongsan, Seoul, sharing project plans, participating companies, and future timelines.

이 프로젝트를 통해 부산과 후쿠오카를 연결하는 총 260km 길이의 해저 광케이블 통신망이 구축된다. 올해 착공해 2027년 완공을 목표로 한다.

The project will lay a 260-kilometer-long undersea fiber optic cable connecting Busan and Fukuoka, with construction beginning this year and completion targeted for 2027.

LS전선은 국내 전선업계 최초로 국가 간 해저통신망을 턴키 방식으로 수주해 전체 프로젝트를 총괄하며, LS마린솔루션은 해저 케이블 시공을 맡는다.

LS Cable & System will be the first Korean cable company to oversee an international submarine cable project on a turnkey basis, while LS Marine Solution will handle the cable installation.

JAKO는 인공지능(AI)과 클라우드 서비스 확산에 따른 데이터 폭증에 대응하기 위한 핵심 통신 인프라로, 한국이 글로벌 데이터 허브로 도약하는 데 중추적 역할을 할 것으로 기대된다.

The JAKO project is expected to serve as a vital infrastructure for handling surging data traffic driven by AI and cloud adoption, playing a key role in establishing Korea as a global data hub.

LS전선은 이번 사업을 통해 동북아 디지털 고속도로의 핵심 축을 구축하며, 기존의 에너지 고속도로에 이어 디지털 인프라 시장에서도 글로벌 경쟁력을 강화할 방침이다.

Through this project, LS Cable & System aims to become a central player in the Northeast Asia digital highway and strengthen its global presence in digital infrastructure following its success in the energy highway sector.
