Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province Education Office Holds Scholarship Ceremony for Specialized Talent

The Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province Education Office (Superintendent: Shin Kyung-ho) and the Gangwon Talent Development Institute (Director: Kim Hak-chul) hosted the 2024 Specialized Talent Scholarship Ceremony on Monday, November 25, at the Sejong Hotel in Chuncheon.

Event Overview

The ceremony aimed to award scholarships to students from vocational high schools in Gangwon who achieved outstanding results in national competitions such as the National Commercial Skills Competition, National Young Farmers Festival, and Biotechnology Skills Competition. The event also served to encourage these students to continue developing as future technical leaders.

Participants and Recognition

Students and teachers from 11 vocational high schools in Gangwon participated in the event. Winners of the various competitions were presented with Specialized Talent Scholarship Certificates by the Gangwon Talent Development Institute.

One of the award recipients, Lee Hyun-ji, a first-year student at Wonju Financial Accounting High School and winner of the Minister of Education Award at the National Commercial Skills Competition, shared her thoughts:

“I am incredibly grateful and happy not only for winning at the national competition but also for receiving this scholarship. I want to thank my teachers, who stayed late into the night to guide and support me.”

Superintendent Shin Kyung-ho expressed his commitment to supporting vocational high school students:

“We will spare no effort in providing the best educational environment so that students at vocational high schools in Gangwon can freely pursue their dreams and fully realize their potential by participating in various competitions. We look forward to the continued growth of Gangwon’s vocational high schools through restructuring and the realignment of academic programs to meet the changing times.”
