동해시가 KTX를 이용해 동해를 찾는 여행객들의 편의를 높이고 체류형 관광을 활성화하기 위해 묵호역 유휴부지를 활용한 여행자플랫폼을 조성한다.

Donghae City is creating a traveler hub in unused space at Mukho Station to make visits more convenient for KTX passengers and encourage them to spend more time in the city.

시는 묵호역사 내 유휴공간과 기존 야외공연장 부지를 활용해 관광정보와 휴식, 물품보관 기능을 갖춘 소규모 복합형 공간을 마련한다.

The city will use vacant space inside the station and the site of an existing outdoor performance area to create a small facility combining tourist information, rest areas and luggage storage.

플랫폼에는 디지털 관광안내시스템과 휴게공간, 휴대전화 충전시설, 캐리어 등 여행물품을 맡길 수 있는 무료 보관함이 설치될 예정이다. 여행객은 열차를 타기 전이나 내린 뒤 편리하게 이용할 수 있다.

The hub is expected to include a digital tourist information system, seating, phone charging facilities and free lockers for suitcases and other travel items. Travelers will be able to use them before boarding or after arriving by train.

동해시는 주요 관광지와 지역 관광콘텐츠도 안내해 묵호역 방문객들이 관광지와 지역 상권으로 이동할 수 있도록 연계할 계획이다.

The city also plans to provide information on major attractions and local activities, helping visitors travel onward from Mukho Station to nearby destinations and businesses.

시는 여행자플랫폼을 24시간 무인·무료 개방 방식으로 운영하고, 9월 말 준공을 목표로 사업을 추진 중이다. 묵호역을 교통거점이자 관광정보와 휴식을 제공하는 동해 관광의 관문으로 활용한다는 구상이다.

The city plans to operate the hub free of charge, without on-site staff, 24 hours a day and is aiming to complete construction by the end of September. It hopes to make Mukho Station a gateway where visitors can find both travel information and a place to rest.

#전미애 동해시 도시정비과장은 “동해시를 찾는 여행객들이 묵호역에서 편안하게 쉬면서 관광정보도 얻을 수 있도록 여행자플랫폼을 마련하고 있다”며 “여행객의 편의를 높이고 지역 관광과 상권으로 자연스럽게 이어질 수 있는 관광거점으로 운영해 나가겠다”고 말했다.

Jeon Mi-ae, head of Donghae City’s Urban Maintenance Division, said the city is preparing the hub so visitors can rest comfortably and find tourist information at Mukho Station. She added that the city intends to operate it as a gateway connecting travelers with local attractions and businesses.
