대형 인형과 500명의 목소리가 춘천 도심에서 하나의 울림으로 만났다.

Giant puppets and 500 voices came together as one powerful resonance in downtown Chuncheon.

춘천을 대표하는 대형 축제인 ‘춘천인형극제’와 ‘온세대합창페스티벌’이 하나의 무대에서 만나 화려한 카니발의 포문을 열었다.

Two of Chuncheon’s major cultural celebrations—the Chuncheon Puppet Festival and the All-Generations Choir Festival—shared one stage to open a spectacular carnival.

제38회 춘천인형극제 공식 개막행사인 ‘춘천인형극제×온세대합창페스티벌 퍼펫카니발’이 12일 오후 운교사거리와 춘천시청 광장 일원에서 열렸다. 행사에는 시민과 인형극인, 합창단원 등 약 1만 7,000명이 참여했다.

The official opening event of the 38th Chuncheon Puppet Festival, titled “Chuncheon Puppet Festival × All-Generations Choir Festival Puppet Carnival,” took place on the afternoon of September 12 around Ungyo Intersection and Chuncheon City Hall Plaza. Approximately 17,000 citizens, puppeteers and choir members joined the festivities.

‘경계를 넘은 하나의 울림’을 주제로 열린 이번 개막행사는 장르의 경계를 허물고 시민과 예술가가 함께 만들어가는 참여형 축제로 펼쳐졌다.

Held under the theme “One Resonance Beyond Boundaries,” the opening celebration broke down barriers between artistic genres and became a participatory festival created jointly by citizens and artists.

축제는 이날 오후 6시 30분, 도심을 가로지르는 대규모 퍼레이드로 시작됐다. 약 1,000명의 예술가와 시민이 대형 인형과 조형물을 앞세우고 축제극장몸짓에서 운교사거리를 거쳐 춘천시청 광장까지 행진했다.

The festival began at 6:30 p.m. with a large-scale parade through the heart of the city. Around 1,000 artists and citizens marched alongside giant puppets and artistic installations from Festival Theater Momzit, through Ungyo Intersection, to Chuncheon City Hall Plaza.

합창단원들은 한 달 동안 진행된 워크숍을 통해 직접 만든 인형을 들고 행렬에 참여했고, 인형극인들은 합창 무대를 함께 준비했다. 외국인 참가자를 비롯한 시민들도 행렬에 합류하면서 인형극과 합창, 세대와 국적의 경계를 뛰어넘는 축제의 모습을 완성했다.

Choir members joined the parade carrying puppets they had made during a month-long workshop, while puppeteers helped prepare the choral performances. Foreign participants and local citizens also joined the procession, completing a festival that transcended the boundaries between puppetry and choral music, as well as generation and nationality.

춘천시청 광장에서는 서울위드콰이어의 사전공연 ‘나는 반딧불’과 ‘볼레로’를 시작으로 온세대합창단의 합창공연과 인형극 갈라쇼가 이어졌다.

At Chuncheon City Hall Plaza, the program began with Seoul With Choir’s pre-show performances of “I Am a Firefly” and “Boléro,” followed by choral performances from the All-Generations Choir and a puppet-theater gala show.

온세대합창단의 ‘비타민’과 ‘7번 국도’를 비롯해 야엘 라술리의 ‘에디트 앤 미’, 120일 동안 제작한 대형 인형과 어린이 키다리 공연이 어우러진 ‘코코바우 별똥대’, 예술무대산의 ‘피노키오’ 등 다채로운 무대가 관객들의 눈길을 사로잡았다.

A variety of performances captivated the audience, including the All-Generations Choir’s “Vitamin” and “National Route 7,” Yael Rasooly’s “Edith and Me,” “Cocobau Shooting Star Troupe,” featuring giant puppets created over 120 days and children performing on stilts, and Art Stage SAN’s “Pinocchio.”

춘천시청 광장에서는 퍼레이드 실황도 생중계돼 축제극장몸짓에서 출발해 시청 광장으로 향하는 행렬의 생생한 현장이 관객들에게 전달됐다.

The parade was also broadcast live on screens at Chuncheon City Hall Plaza, allowing spectators to experience the excitement of the procession as it traveled from Festival Theater Momzit to the plaza.

행사의 하이라이트는 인형극인과 합창단원이 함께한 피날레 공연이었다. 마리오네트와 장대인형 등 다양한 인형이 무대를 가득 채운 가운데 500명의 목소리가 하나로 어우러져 희망의 노래를 부르며 시청 광장에 깊은 울림을 전했다.

The highlight of the event was the grand finale performed jointly by puppeteers and choir members. As marionettes, rod puppets and other colorful figures filled the stage, 500 voices united in a song of hope, creating a profound resonance throughout the plaza.

육동한 춘천시장은 피날레 무대에 올라 제38회 춘천인형극제의 공식 개막을 선언했다.

Chuncheon Mayor Yook Dong-han took the stage during the finale and officially declared the 38th Chuncheon Puppet Festival open.

#육동한 시장은 “올해는 춘천을 대표하는 두 개의 큰 축제가 하나의 무대에서 시민 여러분을 만나게 됐다”며 “전혀 다른 두 예술이 만나 감동적인 어울림의 장을 만든 것처럼 우리는 혼자일 때보다 함께할 때 훨씬 더 깊고 커다란 감동을 경험하게 된다”고 말했다.

“This year, two of Chuncheon’s leading festivals have come together on one stage to meet our citizens,” Mayor Yook said. “Just as two very different forms of art have joined to create a moving space of harmony, we experience far deeper and greater emotions when we come together than when we stand alone.”

이어 “춘천시는 이처럼 다채롭고 과감한 문화적 시도를 이어가며 언제나 문화와 예술이 숨 쉬는 시민 모두가 행복한 도시를 만들어가겠다”며 “문화예술의 도시 춘천에서 경계를 넘는 뜨거운 울림은 계속될 것”이라고 강조했다.

He added, “Chuncheon will continue making diverse and bold cultural endeavors as we build a city where culture and art are always alive and every citizen can be happy. In Chuncheon, a city of culture and the arts, this passionate resonance beyond boundaries will continue.”

공식 개막행사 이후에는 출연진과 시민이 함께하는 애프터파티와 축하 공연이 이어지며 축제의 밤을 마무리했다.

Following the official opening ceremony, performers and citizens came together for an after-party and celebratory performances, bringing the festive evening to a joyful close.

한편 지난 10일 첫 공연을 시작한 제38회 춘천인형극제는 오는 16일까지 이어진다. 춘천인형극장과 축제극장몸짓, KT&G 상상마당 춘천 등 춘천 곳곳에서 국내외 인형극 공연과 국제포럼, 라운드테이블, 인형극 아트마켓 등 다양한 프로그램을 만날 수 있다.

Meanwhile, the 38th Chuncheon Puppet Festival, which began with its first performance on September 10, will continue through September 16. A wide range of programs—including Korean and international puppet shows, an international forum, roundtable discussions and a puppetry art market—will be held at venues across the city, including Chuncheon Puppet Theater, Festival Theater Momzit and KT&G Sangsangmadang Chuncheon.

축제 기간에는 10개국 99개 팀이 참여해 105개 작품을 총 193회에 걸쳐 선보인다.

Throughout the festival, 99 teams from 10 countries will present 105 productions in a total of 193 performances.
