동해시, 청소년 모험캠핑 ‘텐트 밖은 수련관’ 운영

동해시가 청소년이 직접 계획하고 움직이는 체험형 프로그램을 확대하고 있는 가운데, 이번에는 텐트 설치부터 장보기와 요리까지 스스로 해보는 1박 2일 모험캠핑을 선보인다.

Donghae City is expanding hands-on programs that encourage young people to plan, participate, and take initiative. This time, the city is introducing a two-day, one-night adventure camping program in which participants will experience everything from pitching tents to grocery shopping and cooking for themselves.

시는 오는 9월 12일부터 13일까지 동해시청소년수련관에서 관내 초등학교 4~6학년 청소년 20명을 대상으로 모험탐사프로그램 「텐트 밖은 수련관」을 운영하고 참가자를 선착순 모집한다.

The city will hold its adventure exploration program, “Outside the Tent: Youth Center,” from September 12 to 13 at the Donghae Youth Center. The program is open to 20 local elementary school students in grades 4 through 6, with participants accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

이번 프로그램의 가장 큰 특징은 청소년들이 단순히 준비된 캠핑에 참여하는 것이 아니라 캠핑의 전 과정을 직접 만들어 간다는 점이다.

What sets this program apart is that participants will not simply join a pre-arranged camping trip. Instead, they will take an active role in planning and carrying out the entire camping experience themselves.

참가자들은 또래 친구들과 팀을 이뤄 ▲텐트 설치와 야영지 구성 ▲저녁 메뉴 선정 ▲식재료 장보기 ▲직접 요리하기 등을 수행한다. 숲 체험과 밤하늘 별자리 찾기, 또래 교류 레크리에이션 등 야외활동도 함께 진행한다.

Working in teams with their peers, participants will pitch tents and set up their campsite, choose a dinner menu, shop for ingredients, and prepare their own meals. The program will also include outdoor activities such as forest exploration, stargazing, and recreational activities designed to encourage interaction and teamwork among participants.

동해시청소년수련관은 올해 청소년의 관심과 성장 단계에 맞춰 진로탐방·창업교육을 비롯해 해양체험, 국궁체험, 요리 프로그램, ESG 콘텐츠 크리에이터 등 교실 밖에서 직접 경험하고 배우는 체험형 프로그램을 다양하게 운영하고 있다.

This year, the Donghae Youth Center has been offering a wide range of hands-on programs tailored to young people’s interests and stages of development. These include career exploration and entrepreneurship education, marine activities, traditional Korean archery, cooking programs, and ESG content creator activities, providing opportunities to learn through real-world experiences beyond the classroom.

이번 「텐트 밖은 수련관」 역시 이러한 체험 중심 청소년 활동의 하나로, 익숙한 일상을 벗어나 친구들과 함께 먹고 자고 문제를 해결하는 과정을 통해 청소년의 자기주도성과 사회성을 높이는 데 초점을 맞췄다.

“Outside the Tent: Youth Center” is part of this broader initiative to promote experiential youth activities. By stepping away from their everyday routines and sharing meals, camping overnight, and solving problems together, participants will have opportunities to strengthen their independence, initiative, teamwork, and social skills.

참가 대상은 관내 초등학교 4~6학년 청소년 20명이며 참가비는 1인당 1만 원이다. 현재 선착순 모집 중으로 자세한 사항은 동해시청소년수련관을 통해 확인할 수 있다.

The program is open to 20 students in grades 4 through 6 who live in Donghae City. The participation fee is KRW 10,000 per person, and registration is currently open on a first-come, first-served basis. Further details are available through the Donghae Youth Center.

#천수정 체육교육과장은 “청소년에게 필요한 것은 설명을 듣는 경험뿐 아니라 직접 해보고, 실패도 해보고, 친구들과 해결해 보는 경험”이라며 “앞으로도 진로·환경·문화·야외활동 등 다양한 분야에서 청소년이 주도적으로 참여하고 성장할 수 있는 프로그램을 확대해 나가겠다”고 말했다.

They need experiences where they can try things themselves, make mistakes, and work with friends to find solutions.” Cheon added, “We will continue to expand programs in areas such as career development, the environment, culture, and outdoor activities, giving young people more opportunities to take initiative, participate actively, and grow through experience.”
