동해시 용산서원, 청소년 국가유산 체험의 장으로

동해시문화관광재단은 「2026 용산서원 국가유산 활용사업」의 일환으로 8월 10일부터 18일까지 용산서원 일원에서 청소년 대상 ‘용산서원 국가유산 서포터즈 올뉴(all-NEW)’ 프로그램을 운영한다.

The Donghae City Culture & Tourism Foundation is running the “Yongsan Seowon National Heritage Supporters all-NEW” program for young participants at Yongsan Seowon from August 10 to 18, as part of the 2026 Yongsan Seowon National Heritage Utilization Project.

이번 프로그램은 지역아동센터와 어린이집연합회 등으로 참여 대상을 확대해 총 7회에 걸쳐 진행한다.

The program has expanded participation to include children and youth from local community child centers and childcare organizations, with a total of seven sessions scheduled.

참가자들은 지역 유림과 전문 강사의 지도 아래 ▲용산서원 입교식 ▲서원 탐방 및 토론 ▲생활규칙 현판 만들기 등에 참여하며 서원의 교육 정신과 지역의 역사·문화를 직접 체험한다.

Under the guidance of local Confucian scholars and professional instructors, participants take part in an entrance ceremony, explore Yongsan Seowon, join discussions, and create traditional-style plaques featuring rules for everyday life. Through these activities, they can experience firsthand the educational spirit of the seowon and the history and culture of the local community.

앞서 재단은 지난 4월부터 6월까지 성인 30여 명을 대상으로 14차례 인문학 강좌와 서원·사찰 탐방, 아카이빙 북 제작 등을 진행했다.

Earlier this year, from April through June, the Foundation offered 14 humanities sessions for approximately 30 adult participants. The program included visits to traditional Confucian academies and Buddhist temples, as well as the creation of an archival book documenting their experiences.

용산서원은 「용산서원 학규현판」과 「동해 용산서원 전적류 일괄」을 보유한 지역의 국가유산 활용 공간으로, 이번 프로그램을 통해 청소년들이 지역의 역사와 전통문화를 보다 친숙하게 접할 것으로 기대된다.

Yongsan Seowon is an important local heritage site that preserves valuable cultural assets, including the “Yongsan Seowon Academic Regulations Plaque” and a collection of historic documents associated with the seowon. Through this program, young participants are expected to develop a deeper and more personal connection with Donghae’s history and traditional culture.

정연수 대표이사는 “청소년들이 역사적 공간에서 지역의 문화유산을 직접 보고 배우며 우리 지역의 역사와 문화에 관심을 갖는 계기가 되길 바란다”고 말했다.

용산서원은 과거의 문화유산을 보존하는 공간을 넘어, 오늘의 청소년들이 지역의 역사와 전통을 직접 경험하고 배우는 살아 있는 교육의 장으로 새로운 의미를 더하고 있다.

Beyond preserving the legacy of the past, Yongsan Seowon is becoming a living classroom where today’s young people can experience, understand, and carry forward the history and traditions of their community.
