묵호에서 만나는 두 가지 고양이

동해시 묵호에 ‘고양이’를 테마로 한 두 개의 공간이 여행객들의 발길을 기다린다. 하나는 고양이를 통해 시간과 기억을 그려낸 전시공간이고, 다른 하나는 고양이를 테마로 쉬어갈 수 있는 묵꼬양치유카페다.

In Mukho, Donghae City, two unique spaces inspired by the theme of cats are welcoming visitors. One is an art exhibition that reflects on time and memories through feline imagery, while the other is Mukkoyang Healing Café, a cozy place where travelers can relax in a cat-themed atmosphere.

동해시 발한지구 도시재생 현장지원센터가 운영하는 갤러리바란에서는 7월 28일부터 8월 18일까지 마르스 작가의 특별전 「시간의 흔적」이 열린다.

At Gallery Baran, operated by the Balhan District Urban Regeneration Support Center, a special exhibition by artist Mars, titled "Traces of Time," will be held from July 28 to August 18.

이번 전시는 고양이를 주요 소재로 시간 속에 쌓여온 기억과 감정을 작가 특유의 시선으로 풀어낸 작품을 선보인다. 친숙한 고양이라는 소재를 통해 지나온 시간과 삶의 흔적을 자연스럽게 돌아볼 수 있도록 구성한 것이 특징이다.

The exhibition features works centered on cats, expressing memories and emotions accumulated over time through the artist's distinctive perspective. Using the familiar image of cats, the exhibition gently invites visitors to reflect on the traces of life and the passage of time.

전시를 관람한 뒤에는 묵호의 또 다른 ‘고양이’를 만나볼 수 있다. 묵꼬양치유카페는 고양이를 테마로 조성된 주민공동이용시설로, 묵호를 찾은 관광객이 여행 중 잠시 쉬어갈 수 있는 휴식공간이다.

After enjoying the exhibition, visitors can discover another "cat" in Mukho. Mukkoyang Healing Café is a community space designed around a cat theme, offering travelers a peaceful place to rest during their journey.

특히 두 공간은 ‘고양이’라는 공통된 소재를 바탕으로 서로 다른 매력을 선사한다. 갤러리바란에서는 작품 속 고양이를 통해 시간과 기억을 마주하고, 묵꼬양치유카페에서는 묵호의 골목과 바다를 둘러본 뒤 고양이 감성 속에서 여유로운 휴식을 즐길 수 있다.

Although connected by the shared theme of cats, each space offers a different experience. At Gallery Baran, visitors encounter time and memory through artistic expressions of cats. At Mukkoyang Healing Café, they can unwind in a warm feline-inspired atmosphere after exploring Mukho's charming alleys and beautiful seaside.

시는 이번 특별전을 계기로 전시 관람에 그치지 않고 인근 묵꼬양치유카페까지 자연스럽게 이어지는 소규모 도보여행 코스를 소개해 묵호의 골목과 도시재생 공간의 매력을 함께 알릴 계획이다.

To celebrate the exhibition, the city is introducing a walking route that naturally connects Gallery Baran with Mukkoyang Healing Café. The course encourages visitors to experience not only the exhibition but also Mukho's historic alleys and urban regeneration spaces.

#정하연 홍보감사담당관은 “고양이라는 친숙한 소재를 매개로 전시와 지역의 공간을 함께 즐길 수 있다는 점이 이번 묵호 여행의 색다른 매력”이라며 “여름철 묵호를 찾는 관광객들이 바다와 골목을 걸으며 작품을 감상하고 잠시 쉬어가면서 묵호만의 또 다른 매력을 발견하길 바란다”고 말했다.
