동해시, 생명존중안심마을 망상동까지 확대…6개 동 운영

동해시는 지역사회 자살예방 안전망 구축과 생명존중문화 확산을 위해 망상동을 생명존중안심마을로 신규 조성했다.

Donghae City has newly designated Mangsang-dong as a "Life Respect & Safe Community" to strengthen the local suicide prevention network and foster a culture that values and respects life.

생명존중안심마을은 보건의료, 교육, 복지, 지역사회, 공공기관 등 다양한 분야의 기관이 함께 참여하여 자살예방 안전망을 구축하고 주민 중심의 생명존중문화를 확산하는 사업이다.

동해시는 2024년부터 천곡동, 북삼동, 발한동, 북평동, 동호동을 생명존중안심마을로 지정·운영해 왔으며, 올해 망상동이 새롭게 추가되어 총 6개 동으로 확대되었다.

The Life Respect & Safe Community initiative brings together organizations from healthcare, education, welfare, local communities, and public institutions to build an integrated suicide prevention network while promoting a community-based culture of respect for life.

Since 2024, Donghae has operated the program in Cheongok-dong, Buksam-dong, Balhan-dong, Bukpyeong-dong, and Dongho-dong. With the addition of Mangsang-dong this year, the initiative now covers six neighborhoods across the city.

이번 망상동 생명존중안심마을에는 교육 분야의 망상초등학교, 복지 분야의 이레마을 노인요양원, 지역사회 분야의 동해휴게소·초구경로당·CU동해망상점, 공공기관 분야의 망상동행정복지센터 등 총 6개 기관이 참여하여 지역사회 생명존중 실천에 힘을 모으고 있다.

Six organizations are participating in the new Mangsang-dong Life Respect & Safe Community initiative: Mangsang Elementary School (Education), Ire Village Nursing Home (Welfare), Donghae Service Area, Chogu Senior Center, CU Mangsang Convenience Store (Community), and the Mangsang Administrative Welfare Center (Public Sector). Together, they are promoting practical actions that support respect for life within the community.

현재 동해시 생명존중안심마을에는 보건의료, 교육, 복지, 지역사회, 공공기관 등 5개 분야에서 총 56개 기관이 참여하고 있다.

이들 기관은 자살 고위험군 발굴과 전문기관 연계, 생명존중 교육과 캠페인, 홍보활동, 자살 위험수단 차단 등 다양한 예방 활동을 추진하며 지역사회 생명안전망을 강화하고 있다.

A total of 56 organizations from five sectors—including healthcare, education, welfare, community organizations, and public institutions—are now participating in Donghae City's Life Respect & Safe Community program.

These organizations work together to identify individuals at high risk of suicide, connect them with professional support services, provide life-respect education and awareness campaigns, promote public outreach, and reduce access to suicide risk factors, thereby strengthening the community safety network.

시는 앞으로도 주민들이 서로의 안부를 살피고 위기 상황이 발생할 경우 신속하게 전문기관과 연계할 수 있도록 촘촘한 자살예방 안전망을 지속적으로 구축해 나갈 계획이다.

Donghae City will continue expanding a comprehensive suicide prevention network that encourages neighbors to care for one another and enables rapid connection to professional support services whenever a crisis arises.
