동해시는 6월 18일 동해문화예술회관에서 심규언 시장 퇴임식을 개최하며, 권한대행 2년과 민선 6·7·8기 12년을 포함한 총 14년간의 시정 여정을 마무리했다.

Through landmark projects such as Mukho Nongol Dam-gil, Dojaebi Gol Sky Valley, and Mureung Byeolyucheonji, formerly declining areas were transformed into major tourist attractions. Abandoned mining sites became tourism destinations, while ports and alleyways regained vitality as cultural spaces.

4. 수소산업 중심도시 기반 마련

동해시는 청정수소 저장·운송 클러스터 조성, 수소특화단지 지정, 수소기회발전특구 선정 등 ‘수소 3관왕’을 달성하며 미래 신산업 기반을 구축했다.

Donghae laid the foundation for becoming a national hydrogen industry hub by achieving a “Hydrogen Triple Crown,” including designation as a hydrogen-specialized district, a hydrogen opportunity development zone, and the establishment of a clean hydrogen storage and transportation cluster.

5. 시민 삶의 질 향상

KTX 동해선 개통과 생활SOC 확충, 체육·문화시설 및 도서관 건립 등을 통해 시민들이 체감할 수 있는 정주환경 개선에 힘써왔다.

The city improved residents’ quality of life through the opening of the KTX Donghae Line, expansion of public infrastructure, and construction of sports, cultural, and library facilities.

6. 도시의 체질을 바꾼 14년

지난 14년은 단순한 개발을 넘어 도시의 체질을 바꾸고 미래 성장 기반을 다진 시간이었다. 동해시는 산업과 관광, 문화와 정주환경이 조화를 이루는 도시로 성장했다.
