“세계시민교육 이해부터 문화다양성 체험까지… 공직자 글로벌 역량 강화”

강원특별자치도교육청국제교육원(원장 변미영)은 6월 11일부터 12일까지 이틀간 도내 지방공무원(일반직) 44명을 대상으로 총 10시간의 합숙형 「세계시민 역량 강화 지방공무원 직무연수」를 성공적으로 운영했다고 밝혔다.

The Gangwon International Education Institute, led by Director Byeon Mi-young, successfully completed a two-day residential training program titled “Global Citizenship Competency Enhancement for Local Government Officials” from June 11 to 12. The program provided a total of 10 hours of training for 44 local government officials from across Gangwon Province.

이번 직무연수는 세계시민교육에 대한 이해와 인식을 확산하고, 지방공무원들의 학교 교육과정 지원 역량을 강화하는 한편 다양한 국가의 문화를 이해하며 문화다양성에 대한 감수성을 높이기 위해 마련됐다.

The training was designed to broaden participants’ understanding of Global Citizenship Education (GCE), strengthen their ability to support school curricula, and enhance cultural awareness through deeper understanding of diverse cultures around the world.

연수 첫날에는 세계시민교육의 개념과 중요성을 다루는 기조 강연이 진행됐다. 코웍스 전시교육팀 한고은 팀장은 「세계시민교육 이해: 세계시민교육과 지속가능발전목표(SDGs)」를 주제로 강연하며, 글로벌 사회가 직면한 공동 과제 해결을 위한 공직자의 역할과 책임을 강조했다.

The first day featured a keynote lecture focused on the concept and significance of Global Citizenship Education. Han Go-eun, Head of the Exhibition Education Team at Koworks, delivered a presentation titled “Understanding Global Citizenship Education: GCE and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs),” highlighting the vital role and responsibility of public officials in addressing global challenges.

기조 강연 이후에는 세계시민교육과 문화다양성을 직접 체험할 수 있는 다양한 참여형 프로그램이 운영됐다. 참가자들은 강의 중심 교육을 넘어 실제 체험을 통해 세계시민의 가치와 문화적 다양성을 보다 깊이 이해하는 시간을 가졌다.

Following the keynote session, participants engaged in a variety of hands-on activities designed to help them experience Global Citizenship Education and cultural diversity firsthand. These experiential programs enabled participants to gain a deeper understanding of global citizenship values and multicultural perspectives beyond traditional classroom learning.

특히 이번 연수에서는 강원국제교육원 소속 원어민 보조교사들이 교육과정을 직접 운영하며 모든 수업을 영어로 진행했다. 참가자들은 자연스러운 영어 몰입 환경 속에서 베트남, 중국, 일본, 러시아 등 다양한 국가의 문화를 체험하고, 세계시민교육 프로그램에 참여하며 생생한 국제적 경험을 쌓았다.

A key feature of the program was the active involvement of native-speaking assistant teachers from the Gangwon International Education Institute, who conducted all sessions entirely in English. Participants experienced an immersive English-learning environment while exploring the cultures of Vietnam, China, Japan, and Russia, gaining authentic international perspectives through interactive activities.

#변미영 원장은 “이번 직무연수는 본원이 보유한 우수한 원어민 인프라를 활용해 공존과 상생의 가치를 실천하는 세계시민교육을 구현하고자 마련했다”며 “앞으로도 공존과 상생의 가치를 실현하는 세계시민교육 연수를 지속적으로 운영하겠다”고 말했다.

Director Byeon Mi-young stated, “This training program was designed to put the values of coexistence and mutual prosperity into practice through Global Citizenship Education by utilizing our institute’s excellent native-speaking teacher resources.” She added, “We will continue to provide high-quality Global Citizenship Education programs that promote understanding, cooperation, and sustainable coexistence.”

강원국제교육원은 앞으로도 세계시민교육의 가치를 확산하고 국제적 소통 역량을 갖춘 공직자 양성을 위해 다양한 연수 프로그램을 지속적으로 운영할 계획이다.

The Gangwon International Education Institute plans to continue offering diverse training programs that promote the values of Global Citizenship Education and foster globally competent public officials equipped with strong intercultural communication skills.
