낡은 어촌에서 머물고 싶은 바닷마을로

동해시의 어촌재생 사업이 새로운 전환점을 맞았다.

동해시는 6월 8일 오후 2시 대진항 다목적센터 앞 광장에서 해양수산부, 강원특별자치도, 지역 주민 등과 함께 「어촌활력증진지원 시범사업 준공식」을 개최했다.

이번 준공은 단순한 시설 완공을 넘어 오랜 시간 추진해 온 대진·어달·노봉 지역 어촌재생의 성과를 주민들과 함께 나누고 미래 비전을 공유하는 의미 있는 자리로 마련됐다.

시는 그동안 묵호항 재창조사업, 어촌뉴딜300사업, 어촌활력증진사업 등을 연계 추진하며 정주환경 개선과 해양관광 기반 확충에 힘써왔다.

이번 사업에는 총 74억 9천만 원이 투입됐다. 어촌스테이션을 중심으로 마을보건실, 다목적광장, 샤워장, 공중화장실 등 주민 생활 편의시설과 관광 인프라가 조성되었으며, 총 10개 세부사업이 완료됐다.

특히 대진·어달·노봉은 아름다운 해안 경관과 해양레저 자원을 갖춘 지역으로, 이번 사업을 통해 주민들에게는 더욱 쾌적한 삶의 공간을, 관광객들에게는 머물고 싶은 해양관광지로서의 매력을 제공하게 됐다.

준공식은 「어대노 문화페스티벌」 형식으로 진행되어 사업 성과 보고와 준공 세리머니를 비롯해 지역 특화상품 전시, 로컬 문화 체험, 축하공연 등이 펼쳐지며 지역 공동체의 화합과 어촌재생의 의미를 함께 나누는 축제의 장으로 꾸며졌다.

심규언 동해시장은 “어촌재생은 단순히 시설을 만드는 것이 아니라 주민의 삶을 바꾸고 지역의 미래를 준비하는 과정”이라며 “대진·어달·노봉이 살기 좋은 어촌, 찾고 싶은 바닷마을로 성장할 수 있도록 지속적인 지원을 이어가겠다”고 밝혔다.

Donghae Completes Coastal Regeneration Project in Daejin, Eodal and Nobong

Donghae City has reached a major milestone in its long-term coastal revitalization efforts.

On June 8, the city held the completion ceremony for the Coastal Vitality Enhancement Pilot Project at Daejin Port, attended by officials from the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, Gangwon State Government, local residents, and community stakeholders.

More than a simple ribbon-cutting event, the ceremony celebrated the successful transformation of the fishing communities of Daejin, Eodal, and Nobong and shared a vision for their future development.

Over the years, Donghae has integrated several national coastal development initiatives, including the Mukho Port Regeneration Project, the Fishing Village New Deal 300 Program, and the Coastal Vitality Enhancement Project, to improve living conditions and strengthen marine tourism infrastructure.

A total of KRW 7.49 billion was invested in the project. Key facilities such as the Fishing Village Station, community health center, multipurpose plaza, shower facilities, and public restrooms were constructed, completing ten major development projects.

Blessed with stunning coastal scenery and marine leisure resources, the Daejin-Eodal-Nobong area is expected to emerge as a new marine tourism destination while providing residents with a significantly improved quality of life.

The completion ceremony was held in the form of the “Eodaeno Cultural Festival,” featuring project presentations, a commemorative ceremony, exhibitions of local specialty products, cultural experience programs, and celebratory performances.

Mayor Shim Gyu-eon emphasized that coastal regeneration is not merely about constructing facilities but about improving residents' lives and preparing communities for the future.

“We will continue supporting Daejin, Eodal, and Nobong so they can grow into vibrant fishing villages where people want to live and coastal destinations visitors want to return to,” he said.
