동해시가 삼화지구 도시재생사업의 일환으로 스마트 아로마 치유농원과 연계한 온실정원을 조성하고, 주민 참여 기반의 시범운영에 들어갔다고 밝혔다.

The City of Donghae announced that it has launched a pilot operation of a greenhouse garden linked to its Smart Aroma Healing Farm project as part of the Samhwa District urban regeneration initiative, with active participation from local residents.

온실정원은 이로동 190-2번지 일원(삼화동행정복지센터 인근)에 위치해 있으며, 올해 1월부터 매주 금·토요일 오후 1시부터 4시까지 시범 개방 중이다. 시민들의 관심 속에 방문객들의 발길도 이어지고 있다.

 The greenhouse garden is located near the Samhwa-dong Administrative Welfare Center in Iro-dong (190-2). Since January, it has been open on a pilot basis every Friday and Saturday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., attracting steady interest from local citizens and visitors.

온실 내부에는 바나나, 파파야, 화귤, 구아바, 올리브 등 평소 접하기 어려운 다양한 열대식물이 식재되어 이색적인 관람 공간을 조성했다. 시민들은 도심 속에서 특별한 식물 생태 환경을 경험할 수 있다.

 Inside the greenhouse, visitors can explore a variety of exotic tropical plants such as bananas, papayas, calamondins, guavas, and olive trees, creating a unique ecological experience in the heart of the city.

특히 삼화지구는 산업과 주거가 공존하는 지역으로, 인근 산업시설에서 발생하는 재생에너지를 활용해 새로운 가치를 창출하는 도시재생 모델이라는 점에서 의미를 더하고 있다.

 The Samhwa District is especially noteworthy as an urban regeneration model where industrial and residential areas coexist, utilizing recycled energy generated from nearby industrial facilities to create new community value.

동해시는 오는 6월부터 인근 쌍용C&E 시설의 재생열(폐열)을 활용해 온실 내부 온도를 안정적으로 유지할 계획이다. 버려지는 에너지를 생명을 키우는 자원으로 전환하는 선순환 구조를 구축하겠다는 방침이다.

 Beginning in June, Donghae City plans to utilize recycled heat (waste heat) from nearby SsangYong C&E facilities to maintain stable greenhouse temperatures. The initiative aims to establish a sustainable cycle that transforms discarded industrial energy into a resource that nurtures life.

온실은 주민 참여형 운영 모델로 추진되고 있다. 현재 삼색삼화 마을관리협동조합 조합원들이 식물 생육관리와 운영에 직접 참여하고 있으며, 4월 말부터는 ‘온실정원 전문가 양성과정’을 운영해 주민 역량 강화에도 나서고 있다.

 The greenhouse is being operated under a resident-led management model. Members of the Samsaek Samhwa Village Cooperative are actively participating in plant cultivation and facility management, while a “Greenhouse Garden Expert Training Program” launched in late April is helping strengthen local capacity and expertise.

또한 5월부터는 모종과 묘목 재배를 시작하며, 6월부터는 온실정원의 정식 운영이 본격화될 예정이다. 향후에는 작물 판매와 체험 프로그램 등을 통해 주민 소득 창출로 연계할 계획이다.

 Seedling and sapling cultivation will begin in May, followed by the official launch of full greenhouse operations in June. The city also plans to connect the project to local income generation through crop sales and experiential programs.

스마트 아로마 치유농원 본건물은 현재 공정률 약 87%로 오는 6월 준공을 앞두고 있다. 내부에는 카페와 족욕 체험 공간, 묘목 판매 공간 등이 들어설 예정이며, 향후 체류형 치유·체험 복합공간으로 확대 운영될 계획이다.

 The main Smart Aroma Healing Farm building is currently about 87% complete and is scheduled for completion in June. The facility will include a café, foot bath experience zones, and seedling sales areas, eventually expanding into a comprehensive healing and experiential destination for longer stays.

#전미애 도시정비과장은 “스마트 아로마 치유농원은 산업시설의 재생에너지 활용과 주민 참여를 결합한 대표적인 도시재생 사례”라며 “앞으로 주민 소득 창출과 체험형 관광이 연계된 지속 가능한 모델로 발전시켜 나가겠다”고 밝혔다.

We will continue developing it into a sustainable model linked to local income creation and experiential tourism.”
