동해시가 장애인체전과 도민체전, 6월 라벤더 축제 등 대규모 방문 수요에 맞춰 주요 관광지 야간경관과 체험 콘텐츠를 연계한 ‘밤에도 머무는 관광도시’ 활성화에 나선다.

Donghae is launching a large-scale night tourism initiative by linking nighttime landscapes and experiential programs at major tourist destinations in preparation for increased visitor demand from the Disabled Sports Festival, Provincial Sports Festival, and the June Lavender Festival.

이번 야간관광 운영은 신규 시설 확대보다 기존 관광 인프라와 경관조명을 효율적으로 활용하는 데 중점을 두고 추진된다.

 The city’s night tourism strategy focuses on efficiently utilizing existing tourism infrastructure and landscape lighting systems rather than expanding with new facilities.

시는 고효율 LED 조명과 점등 시간 조절 등을 통해 에너지 절감 기조를 유지하면서도 관광객 체류시간 확대와 지역경제 활성화를 함께 도모할 계획이다.

 The city plans to maintain its energy-saving policy through the use of high-efficiency LED lighting and optimized operating hours while simultaneously encouraging longer visitor stays and stimulating the local economy.

그동안 추암, 한섬, 망상, 전천, 무릉권역 등을 중심으로 야간경관 사업을 단계적으로 조성해 왔으며, 최근에는 관광객들이 ‘낮에 보고 밤에 떠나는 관광’에서 벗어나 야간 체험과 숙박, 먹거리 소비까지 이어지는 체류형 관광 흐름이 확대되고 있다고 설명했다.

 Over the years, Donghae has gradually developed nighttime landscape projects centered around areas such as Chuam, Hanseom, Mangsang, Jeoncheon, and the Mureung district. Recently, the city noted a growing tourism trend in which visitors are moving beyond “daytime-only sightseeing” to enjoy nighttime experiences, accommodations, and local dining as part of longer stays.

특히 오는 6월 열리는 무릉별유천지 라벤더 축제 기간에는 야간 개장을 운영한다. 스카이글라이더와 알파인코스터 등 체험시설의 야간 운영을 위한 경관조명을 설치하고, 라벤더 정원 일대에는 보랏빛 조명을 연출해 낮과는 또 다른 야간 관광 경험을 제공할 예정이다.

 In particular, during the upcoming Lavender Festival at Mureung Byeolyucheonji in June, nighttime operations will be introduced. Scenic lighting will be installed for nighttime rides on attractions such as the sky glider and alpine coaster, while purple-themed illumination throughout the lavender gardens will create a completely different nighttime atmosphere from the daytime scenery.

추암권역에서는 ‘추암의 여명 빛 테마파크’를 중심으로 조각공원 특화조명과 미디어파사드, 별빛조명 등을 운영하며 빛과 자연, 예술이 어우러진 야간경관을 선보이고 있다.

 In the Chuam district, the “Chuam Dawn Light Theme Park” features specialized sculpture park lighting, media facades, and starlight installations, presenting a nightscape where light, nature, and art harmoniously blend together.

한섬해변 역시 리드미컬 게이트와 빛터널 등을 활용한 야간 산책 명소로 자리잡고 있으며, 전천 일원은 뜬다리정원마루와 캐릭터공원 등을 중심으로 해파랑길과 연계된 야간 힐링 공간으로 주목받고 있다.

 Hanseom Beach has also become a popular nighttime walking destination with its rhythmic gateway and illuminated tunnel installations. Meanwhile, the Jeoncheon area, including the floating garden deck and character park, is gaining attention as a healing night tourism space connected to the Haeparang Trail.

망상해변과 무릉계곡·추암 캠핑장 등 캠핑 관광지 역시 기존 경관조명을 활용해 과도한 전력 사용은 최소화하면서도 밤바다와 자연을 즐길 수 있는 감성형 야간 분위기를 제공하고 있다.

 Camping destinations such as Mangsang Beach, Mureung Valley, and the Chuam camping grounds are also using existing landscape lighting to minimize excessive power consumption while still offering an emotional nighttime atmosphere where visitors can enjoy the sea and nature after dark.

동해시 관계자는 앞으로도 기존 관광자원과 연계한 효율적 야간관광 콘텐츠를 확대해 ‘낮과 밤이 모두 즐거운 체류형 관광도시’ 이미지를 강화하고 지역경제 활성화에 힘쓸 방침이라고 밝혔다.

 A city official stated that Donghae will continue expanding efficient nighttime tourism content connected to existing tourism resources in order to strengthen its image as a “stay-oriented tourism city enjoyable both day and night” while revitalizing the local economy.

이어 “야간관광은 단순 조명 연출이 아니라 관광객 체류시간을 늘려 숙박·음식·상권 이용으로 이어지는 지역경제형 관광정책”이라고 강조했다.

The official added, “Night tourism is not simply about decorative lighting. It is an economic tourism policy designed to increase visitor stay duration and encourage spending on accommodations, dining, and local businesses.”
