동해시 박재두 씨, 제54회 어버이날 기념식 국민훈장 석류장 수훈

Donghae’s Park Jae-doo Receives Order of Civil Merit, Seokryujang at the 54th Parents’ Day Ceremony

동해시는 뉴동해관광호텔 대표 박재두 씨(80)가 5월 8일 보건복지부가 주관한 ‘제54회 어버이날 기념식’에서 국민훈장 석류장을 수훈했다고 밝혔다.

The City of Donghae announced that Mr. Park Jae-doo (80), CEO of New Donghae Tourist Hotel, received the Order of Civil Merit, Seokryujang, at the 54th Parents’ Day Commemoration Ceremony hosted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare on May 8.

이번 행사는 우리 사회의 소중한 가치인 ‘효(孝)’를 실천해 온 유공자를 격려하기 위해 마련됐으며, 국민훈장을 비롯한 정부포상이 수여됐다. 행사는 서울 대한상공회의소 국제회의장에서 열렸다.

The ceremony was organized to honor individuals who have devoted themselves to practicing and promoting the important social value of filial piety. Government awards, including the Order of Civil Merit, were presented during the event held at the International Conference Hall of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Seoul.

국민훈장을 수훈한 박재두 씨는 부모님 생전은 물론 사후에도 40여 년간 변함없는 효행을 실천해 왔으며, 가족 묘역 참배를 꾸준히 이어오는 등 전통 효 문화의 모범이 되어왔다.

Mr. Park, who received the national honor, has practiced unwavering filial devotion for more than 40 years, both during and after his parents’ lifetime. He has continuously paid respects at his family ancestral graves, becoming a role model for traditional Korean filial culture.

또한 동해향교 창건과 동해 유교대학 설립을 주도하며 지역사회 내 전통문화 보급과 효 사상 확산에 기여하는 등 지역사회 발전에도 큰 역할을 해왔다.

In addition, he played a leading role in the establishment of the Donghae Confucian School and Donghae Confucian College, contributing greatly to the promotion of traditional culture and the spread of filial values within the local community.

심규언 동해시장은 “보건복지부가 주관하는 전국 단위 행사에서 우리 시 시민이 국민훈장을 수훈하게 되어 매우 뜻깊고 자랑스럽다”며 “박재두 씨의 숭고한 효 정신이 지역사회 전반에 널리 확산되는 계기가 되길 바란다”고 말했다.

Mayor Shim Gyu-eon of Donghae stated, “It is deeply meaningful and a great honor that a citizen of our city has received the Order of Civil Merit at this nationwide ceremony hosted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare. I hope Mr. Park’s noble spirit of filial devotion will spread widely throughout the community.”
