동해시, 교육으로 미래 연다… 교육발전 중장기 기본 계획 수립 착수

Donghae City Opens the Future Through Education… Launches Mid- to Long-Term Education Development Plan

동해시가 학령인구 감소와 지역 소멸 위기에 대응하기 위해 교육을 중심으로 한 중장기 전략 수립에 나섰다.

Donghae City has initiated the establishment of a mid- to long-term strategy centered on education in response to the declining school-age population and the risk of regional extinction.

동해시는 4월 24일 시청 본관 회의실에서 「동해시 교육발전 중장기 기본 계획 수립」 연구용역 착수보고회를 개최했다고 밝혔다.

The city announced that it held a kickoff report meeting for the “Mid- to Long-Term Education Development Master Plan” research project on April 24 at the main building of City Hall.

이번 용역은 2027년부터 2031년까지 5개년을 아우르는 교육 분야 종합 마스터플랜을 수립하기 위한 사업으로, 강원대학교 산학협력단이 수행을 맡아 약 6개월간 진행된다.

This project aims to establish a comprehensive five-year master plan for the education sector from 2027 to 2031, and will be carried out by the Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation of Kangwon National University over a six-month period.

이날 보고회는 부시장이 주재한 가운데 관련 국·소장과 동해교육지원청 관계자 등이 참석해 과업 수행 방향과 기본 구상을 공유하고 향후 추진 전략에 대한 다양한 의견을 수렴하는 자리로 마련됐다.

The meeting, presided over by the Vice Mayor, was attended by relevant officials and representatives from the Donghae Office of Education, where they reviewed the project direction, shared initial concepts, and gathered diverse opinions on future strategies.

이번 계획의 핵심은 ▲동해시 교육 비전 및 브랜드 체계 정립 ▲지역 산업 특성을 반영한 교육 모델 개발 ▲교육 사업의 재구조화 및 체계화에 있다.

The core of the plan focuses on establishing an education vision and brand system for Donghae, developing education models that reflect local industrial characteristics, and restructuring and systematizing education projects.

특히 해양·관광·수소에너지 등 지역 자원과 연계한 특화 교육 브랜드 발굴에 중점을 두고, 동해시만의 차별화된 교육 경쟁력을 확보할 방침이다.

In particular, the city aims to secure a differentiated educational competitiveness by developing specialized education brands linked to local resources such as marine industries, tourism, and hydrogen energy.

시는 이번 착수보고회를 시작으로 실무 협의와 관계기관 간 협력 거버넌스를 강화하고, 오는 10월까지 최종 결과물을 도출할 계획이다.

Starting with this kickoff meeting, the city plans to strengthen working-level consultations and inter-agency cooperation governance, aiming to finalize the results by October.

#심규언 동해시장은 “이번 중장기 계획은 동해시 교육의 미래 비전과 브랜드를 새롭게 설계하는 중요한 작업”이라며 “교육을 통해 지역에 머무르고 정착하는 선순환 생태계를 구축해 지속 가능한 교육도시 동해를 실현하겠다”고 밝혔다.

Mayor Sim Gyu-eon stated, “This mid- to long-term plan is a crucial effort to redesign the future vision and brand of education in Donghae,” adding, “Through education, we will build a virtuous cycle ecosystem that encourages people to stay and settle in the region, realizing a sustainable education city.”
