“마늘 재배 경쟁력 높인다” 동해시, 농업인대학 ‘마늘반’ 운영

동해시는 지역 농업 경쟁력 강화를 위해 ‘동해시 농업인대학’을 운영하고 있으며, 올해 과정은 마늘 재배 전문기술 향상을 위한 ‘마늘반’으로 운영 중이라고 밝혔다.

Donghae City announced that it is operating the “Donghae Farmers College” to strengthen regional agricultural competitiveness, with this year’s program focusing on a “Garlic Class” aimed at enhancing specialized garlic cultivation techniques.

올해 농업인대학은 교육생 모집을 통해 총 32명을 선발했으며, 교육은 4월부터 10월까지 7개월간 농업인회관 교육장에서 주 1회 과정으로 운영된다.

A total of 32 trainees were selected for this year’s program, which runs once a week for seven months from April to October at the Farmers’ Hall training center.

교육 과정은 마늘 재배 기초부터 우량종구 생산기술, 생육관리, 병해충 방제, 수확 후 관리 등 전문 이론교육과 현장실습을 병행해 운영되며, 선진농가 견학을 통해 최신 재배기술과 우수 사례를 직접 체험할 수 있도록 구성됐다.

The curriculum combines theoretical education and field practice, covering fundamentals of garlic cultivation, high-quality seed bulb production, growth management, pest and disease control, and post-harvest management. It also includes visits to advanced farms, allowing participants to experience the latest cultivation techniques and best practices firsthand.

특히 이번 교육은 우량종구 생산기술 보급을 통해 안정적인 생산 기반을 구축하고, 농업인의 재배 역량 향상과 농가 소득 증대에도 기여할 것으로 기대되고 있다.

In particular, the program is expected to help establish a stable production base by disseminating high-quality seed bulb production technologies, while also improving farmers’ cultivation capabilities and increasing farm income.

동해시 농업인대학은 지역 농업에 필요한 장기 기술교육을 통해 전문 농업인을 양성하기 위해 운영되고 있으며, 2011년 포도반을 시작으로 친환경 농업, 양봉, 사과 등 다양한 과정을 운영해 왔다. 지금까지 402명의 수료생을 배출하는 등 지역 농업 발전에 기여하고 있다.

The Donghae Farmers College has been operating long-term technical education programs to foster professional farmers. Since launching its first grape cultivation class in 2011, it has offered diverse courses including eco-friendly farming, beekeeping, and apple cultivation, producing a total of 402 graduates and contributing to regional agricultural development.

#박현주 농업기술센터소장은 “마늘 생육관리와 병해충 방제, 수확 후 관리 등 전문교육을 통해 지역 농업인들이 품질 좋은 마늘을 안정적으로 생산하는 데 실질적인 도움이 될 것으로 기대한다”며 “앞으로도 지역 특성에 맞는 전문 교육을 지속적으로 운영해 농업 경쟁력 강화에 힘쓰겠다”고 밝혔다.

Park Hyun-joo, head of the Agricultural Technology Center, stated, “We expect this specialized training—covering garlic growth management, pest and disease control, and post-harvest management—to provide practical support for farmers to produce high-quality garlic in a stable manner,” adding, “We will continue to offer tailored professional education suited to regional characteristics to further strengthen agricultural competitiveness.”
