누군가의 마음을 여는 일은 언제나 조심스럽다.

특히 학생과 학부모의 이야기를 처음 마주하는 상담의 순간은, 단순한 대화가 아니라 관계의 시작이기 때문이다.

Opening someone’s heart is always a delicate process.

Especially in counseling, the very first conversation with students and parents is not just dialogue—it is the beginning of a relationship.

강릉교육지원청은 3월 17일, 위(Wee)프로젝트 상담자를 대상으로 ‘초기면담법’ 연수를 운영했다.

이번 연수는 상담 현장에서 가장 중요한 ‘첫 만남’을 어떻게 준비하고 이끌어갈 것인가에 대한 깊은 고민에서 출발했다.

On March 17, the Gangneung Office of Education held a training session on “Initial Interview Techniques” for Wee Project counselors.

This program began with a fundamental question: how should counselors prepare for and lead that crucial first meeting?

연수는 강릉교육지원청 본관 2층 연수실에서 약 3시간 동안 진행됐으며, 총 36명의 상담자가 참여했다.

이들은 학생과 학부모 상담에 필요한 초기면담법을 배우고, 실제 현장에서 바로 적용할 수 있는 실질적인 역량을 키우는 데 집중했다.

The three-hour session took place in the main training room of the office, with 36 counselors in attendance.

Participants focused on learning practical initial interview techniques that can be directly applied in real counseling settings.

강의는 강릉위(Wee)센터 김지혜 정신보건임상심리사가 맡았다.

그는 정신과 진단 유형별 접근 방식과 초기면담의 방향성을 구체적으로 제시하며, 상담자가 놓치기 쉬운 지점들을 차분히 짚어냈다.

The lecture was led by Kim Ji-hye, a certified clinical psychologist at the Gangneung Wee Center.

She carefully explained interview approaches based on psychiatric diagnostic types and highlighted often-overlooked aspects of early-stage counseling.

특히 다양한 현장 사례를 중심으로 진행된 이번 연수는, 상담이 ‘기술’이 아니라 ‘이해’에서 시작된다는 점을 다시금 일깨웠다.

참석자들은 서로의 경험을 공유하며, 더 깊이 있는 공감과 전문적 접근의 필요성을 함께 고민했다.

Through real-life case discussions, the session emphasized that counseling begins not with techniques, but with understanding.

Participants shared their experiences and reflected on the importance of deeper empathy and professional insight.

#김기현 교육장은 “상담 과정에서 간과하기 쉬운 부분을 돌아보고, 더 효과적인 상담 방향을 찾는 계기가 되길 바란다”며

“앞으로도 현장 중심의 지원과 전문성 향상을 위한 연수를 지속적으로 운영하겠다”고 밝혔다.

Superintendent Kim Ki-hyun stated,

“I hope this training serves as an opportunity for counselors to reflect on overlooked aspects and discover more effective approaches.”

He added, “We will continue to provide field-oriented support and professional development programs.”

상담의 시작은 질문이 아니라, 기다림일지도 모른다.

그리고 그 기다림 끝에서, 아이의 마음은 조금씩 열리기 시작한다.

Perhaps the beginning of counseling is not a question, but patience.

And at the end of that patience, a child’s heart slowly begins to open.
