동해시의회, “설맞이 장보기는 전통시장에서”

동해시의회(의장 민귀희)는 설 명절을 앞두고 2월 12일 및 13일, 관내 전통시장 2개소인 동쪽바다중앙시장과 북평민속시장을 방문해 ‘설맞이 장보기 행사’를 진행했다.

The Donghae City Council (Chairperson Min Gwi-hee) held a “Lunar New Year Traditional Market Shopping Event” on February 12 and 13 at two local markets—Dongjjokbada Jungang Market and Bukpyeong Folk Market.

이번 행사는 지역 상권 활성화와 전통시장 이용 분위기 확산을 위해 마련됐으며, 동해시의회 의원들과 의회사무과 직원들이 함께 참여해 제수용품과 명절 성수품 등을 직접 구매하며 상인들과 소통하는 시간을 가졌다.

The event was organized to revitalize the local economy and encourage greater use of traditional markets. Council members and administrative staff participated together, purchasing ceremonial foods and holiday goods while engaging in meaningful conversations with merchants.

특히 의원들은 장보기 과정에서 경기 침체로 어려움을 겪고 있는 상인들의 애로사항을 청취하고, 전통시장의 경쟁력 강화를 위한 다양한 의견을 나누며 현장의 목소리를 의정 활동에 적극 반영하겠다는 뜻을 밝혔다.

During the visit, council members listened to the challenges faced by merchants amid the economic downturn and exchanged ideas on strengthening the competitiveness of traditional markets, expressing their commitment to reflecting on-site voices in future legislative activities.

민귀희 의장은 “설 명절을 맞아 전통시장을 찾는 시민들의 발길이 늘어나 지역경제에 조금이나마 도움이 되길 바란다”며 “앞으로도 지역 상권과 서민경제에 힘이 되는 의정 활동을 지속해 나가겠다”고 말했다.

Chairperson Min Gwi-hee stated, “I hope more citizens will visit traditional markets during the Lunar New Year, bringing even a small boost to the local economy,” adding, “We will continue legislative efforts that support local businesses and the livelihoods of ordinary citizens.”

한편, 동해시의회는 매년 명절을 앞두고 전통시장 장보기 행사와 지역사회 나눔 활동을 통해 지역경제 활성화와 상생 문화 확산에 앞장서고 있다.

Meanwhile, the Donghae City Council has been leading efforts to revitalize the local economy and promote a culture of mutual growth by organizing traditional market shopping events and community outreach activities ahead of major holidays each year.
