김진태 지사, 주히로시마 총영사 초청 오찬… 지방외교 협력 방안 논의

Over 50 Years of Civilian-Led Youth Exchanges Between Gangwon and Hiroshima – Discussion on Expanding Sports and Cultural Cooperation

김진태 강원특별자치도지사는 11월 4일(화) 강호증 주히로시마 대한민국총영사의 초청으로 총영사관저를 방문해 점심 식사를 함께하며 지방외교 협력 방안 등을 논의하고 교류 협력을 다지는 시간을 가졌다.

On November 4 (Tuesday), Governor Kim Jin-tae of Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province visited the residence of Kang Ho-jeung, Consul General of the Republic of Korea in Hiroshima, at his invitation. During the luncheon, the two discussed regional diplomacy and ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation.

강호증 총영사는 “우리 관저를 찾아주신 한국의 최고위직 손님을 진심으로 환영한다”며, “히로시마는 한국과도 깊은 인연이 있는 도시로, 지금은 평화의 도시로 거듭나기 위해 노력하고 있다”고 소개했다. 이어 “오늘 경기가 좋은 결과로 이어지길 기대하며, 저도 현장에서 열심히 응원하겠다”고 말했다.

Consul General Kang Ho-jeung said, “We are truly honored to welcome one of Korea’s highest-ranking officials to our residence. Hiroshima is a city with deep ties to Korea and is striving to become a city of peace.” He added, “I hope today’s match brings good results, and I will also be cheering passionately on-site.”

김진태 지사는 “총영사님께서 어제 공항까지 직접 나오셔서 입국을 환영해주셔서 감사드린다”며, “이번 히로시마 방문은 처음이지만, 그동안 도와 히로시마 간 청소년 교류가 꾸준히 이어져왔다”고 전했다. 또, “히로시마는 축구에 대한 열정이 매우 큰 도시로 이번을 계기로 앞으로 양 지역 간 더 활발한 교류와 협력이 이루어지길 기대한다”고 밝혔다.

Governor Kim Jin-tae expressed his gratitude, saying, “I sincerely thank the Consul General for personally welcoming me at the airport yesterday. Although this is my first visit to Hiroshima, youth exchanges between Gangwon Province and Hiroshima have continued steadily over the years.” He added, “Hiroshima is a city with great passion for football, and I hope this visit will lead to even more vibrant exchanges and cooperation between our two regions.”

이어 김진태 지사와 강호증 총영사는 1971년 시작되어 50년 넘게 이어져 온 강원도와 히로시마현 간 청소년 교류 현황을 비롯해 스포츠‧문화 분야 협력 기반 조성 등 지방정부 간 교류 협력 확대 방안에 대해 심도 있게 의견을 나눴다.

Governor Kim and Consul General Kang also engaged in an in-depth discussion on ways to further expand cooperation between local governments. Topics included the status of youth exchanges that began in 1971 and have continued for over 50 years, as well as building stronger foundations for collaboration in sports and cultural sectors.
