백두대간협곡 관광열차 타고 ‘동해시로 여행을 떠나요~

광주광역시관광협회 회원사 1,000여 명, 동해 관광 전용 관광열차상품 운영

10.17~18./10.31~11.1. 두 차례..도째비골·망상·북평장 등 주요 관광지 둘러봐.

오는 10월 17일(금)부터 18일(토)까지, 동해시가 광주광역시에서 온 대규모 관광객들로 북적일 전망이다.

동해시(시장 심규언)는 10월 17일~18일, 10월 31일~11월 1일, 두 차례에 걸쳐 1,000명이 넘는 대규모 관광객들이, 광주광역시 송정역에서 출발하여 동해시를 종착지로 하는 백두대간협곡 관광열차를 타고 동해를 방문한다고 밝혔다.

이번 관광열차는 광주광역시관광협회 회원사들이 관광전용열차를 임차해 백두대간협곡 구간을 관람하고, 동해시에서 1박 2일 체류하는 일정으로 구성되어 있다.

해당 상품은 지난 5월에도 한 차례 운영되어 560명이 방문한 바 있으며, 방문객들의 큰 호응에 힘입어 다시 추진되었다. 상품 출시 전인 지난 7월 29~30일, 광주관광협회 임원진이 직접 동해 주요 관광지와 숙박시설, 음식점을 답사하기도 했다.

두 차례 운영되는 이번 열차 상품은 조기 매진되었으며, 총1,140명이 각 570명씩(기차8칸) 두 차례에 걸쳐 방문할 예정이다.

첫날 관광객들은 도째비골 스카이밸리를 시작으로 묵호권역과 망상권역을 관광하고, 둘째날은 추암해변을 비롯하여 천곡황금박쥐동굴 등 동해시 대표 관광지를 방문할 예정이다. 특히, 18일은 북평민속시장 장날과 맞물려 ‘북평장 투어’도 함께 진행되어, 호남권 관광객들에게 색다른 경험을 선사할 것으로 기대된다.

또한 17~18일에는 이들 관광객뿐만 아니라 무릉계곡을 찾는 가을 등산객, 강원특별자치도 주민자치박람회 방문객 등이 한꺼번에 몰리며 동해시 전역이 활기를 띨 것으로 전망된다.

#이진화 관광과장은 “대규모 관광객 맞이에 만전을 기해 관광지 방문과 시설 이용에 불편이 없도록 하겠다”며, “동해선 개통으로 접근성이 높아진 만큼 다양한 관광열차 상품을 발굴해 지역경제 활성화에 기여하겠다”고 말했다.

한편, 동해시는 지난 10일부터 단체 관광객 유치 인센티브 지급을 재개해 하반기 단체관광객 유입이 지속될 것으로 기대하고 있다.

Visitors will tour major attractions such as Dochebigol Sky Valley, Mangsang, and Bukpyeong Market.

Donghae City (Mayor Shim Kyu-eon) is expected to be bustling with visitors from Gwangju this weekend, as more than 1,000 tourists travel to the city aboard the Baekdudaegan Valley Tourist Train from Gwangju Songjeong Station to Donghae Station on October 17–18 and again on October 31–November 1.

The special chartered train, arranged by member companies of the Gwangju Tourism Association, will take passengers along the scenic Baekdudaegan mountain range and offer a two-day, one-night stay in Donghae.

A similar tour was operated in May, attracting 560 visitors, and was revived due to strong positive feedback. Prior to launching the fall program, the association’s executives conducted a site inspection of Donghae’s main attractions, accommodations, and restaurants on July 29–30.

The upcoming tours, each consisting of eight train cars and 570 passengers, were fully booked in advance, bringing the total number of visitors to 1,140.

On the first day, participants will visit Dochebigol Sky Valley, followed by tours of Mukho and Mangsang areas. On the second day, they will explore Chuam Beach and Cheongok Golden Bat Cave, among other key tourist destinations in Donghae. Notably, the October 18 itinerary coincides with the Bukpyeong Traditional Market Day, giving visitors from the Honam region a chance to experience local culture firsthand.

In addition to these group tourists, fall hikers heading to Mureung Valley and visitors attending the Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province Resident Autonomy Expo are also expected to converge in Donghae during the same period, creating a lively atmosphere throughout the city.

Lee Jinhua, head of Donghae City’s Tourism Division, stated,

“We are thoroughly preparing to welcome this large group of tourists and ensure that their visits to attractions and facilities are comfortable. With improved accessibility following the opening of the Donghae Line, we plan to develop more themed tourist train programs to boost the local economy.”

Meanwhile, Donghae City resumed its group tourist incentive program on October 10, aiming to sustain the inflow of group visitors through the remainder of the year.
