Wonju City Holds Industry-Academia-Research-Government Seminar on Semiconductor Industry Development

원주시는 22일 오후 2시, 강릉원주대학교에서 반도체산업 생태계 조성과 방안을 모색하는 ‘원주시 반도체산업 육성을 위한 산학연관 협력 방안 세미나’를 개최했다.

On September 22 at 2 p.m., Wonju City held the Seminar on Industry-Academia-Research-Government Cooperation for Semiconductor Industry Development in Wonju at Gangneung-Wonju National University to discuss ways to foster a semiconductor industry ecosystem.

이번 세미나는 원주시가 주최하고 강원산학융합원이 주관했으며, 원강수 원주시장을 비롯해 관련 기업과 학계, 기관 전문가들이 참석했다. 특히 지역 대학생들이 활발하게 참여해 세미나 분위기는 한층 더 열기를 띠었다.

The seminar was hosted by Wonju City and organized by the Gangwon Industry-Academia Convergence Institute. Attendees included Won Kang-su, Mayor of Wonju, as well as experts from businesses, academia, and institutions. The active participation of local university students further energized the atmosphere.

세미나에서는 김진국 전 SK하이닉스 부사장이 발제를 맡아 지역 반도체산업 발전을 위한 심도 있는 조언을 아끼지 않았고, 이희석 한국산업기술진흥원(KIAT) 실장과 고광만 상지대학교 교수가 발표를 통해 원주시 반도체산업 육성을 위한 다양한 논의를 이어 나갔다.

At the seminar, Jin-Kook Kim, former Vice President of SK Hynix, delivered the keynote speech, offering in-depth advice for advancing the local semiconductor industry. Presentations were also made by Hee-Seok Lee, Director at the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology (KIAT), and Kwang-Man Ko, Professor at Sangji University, who shared insights on strategies for semiconductor industry growth in Wonju.

원주시는 이번 세미나를 통해 올해 제정한 반도체산업 육성 조례를 기반으로 반도체산업의 흐름을 살펴보며 육성 전략을 고민하고, 지역 차원의 대응 전략과 산학연관 협력 체계를 다져 발전 방향을 모색하는 뜻깊은 시간을 가졌다.

Through this seminar, Wonju City reviewed the current trends in the semiconductor industry based on its Semiconductor Industry Promotion Ordinance enacted earlier this year. The city also sought to refine development strategies, strengthen local-level response measures, and build a robust cooperation system among industry, academia, research, and government.

원강수 원주시장은 “원주시는 민선8기 출범부터 반도체산업 육성을 시정의 핵심 전략으로 삼고 적극적인 정책을 추진해 왔다”라며, “학성동에는 한국반도체교육원 공사가 시작됐고, 부론일반산업단지에는 반도체 신뢰성 검증센터, 미래차 반도체 소모품 실증센터가 착공을 앞두고 있다”라고 말했다.

Mayor Won Kang-su stated, “Since the launch of the 8th municipal administration, Wonju has made semiconductor industry development a core policy strategy and has been actively pursuing related initiatives. Construction of the Korea Semiconductor Training Center has begun in Hakseong-dong, while the Semiconductor Reliability Verification Center and the Future Mobility Semiconductor Consumables Demonstration Center will soon break ground in the Buron General Industrial Complex.”

이어 “이러한 사업들이 강릉원주대를 비롯한 지역 대학 인재들에게도 큰 도움이 될 것”이라고 강조했다.

He further emphasized, “These projects will greatly benefit local talents, including students at Gangneung-Wonju National University.”
