Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province Appoints Choi Jong-gyun as the 12th President of Gangwon Provincial University

강원특별자치도(도지사 김진태)는 9월 1일(월)자로 최종균 전 대통령실 저출생대응비서관을 제12대 강원도립대학교 총장으로 임명했다고 밝혔다.

Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province (Governor Kim Jin-tae) announced on September 1 (Monday) the appointment of Choi Jong-gyun, former Presidential Secretary for Low Birth Rate Policy, as the 12th President of Gangwon Provincial University.

■ 중앙행정 및 사회정책 분야 전문성(Expertise in Central Administration and Social Policy)

최 총장은 강릉 출신으로 보건복지부 기획조정담당관, 인사과장, 인구정책실장, 질병관리청 차장, 대통령비서실 저출생대응비서관 등 중앙부처 핵심 보직을 역임한 행정 전문가이다. 또한, 영국 켄트대학교에서 사회정책학 박사학위를 취득하여 사회정책 분야의 전문성을 갖추고 있다.
President Choi, a native of Gangneung, is a seasoned administrator who has held key positions including Director of Policy and Planning, Head of Human Resources, and Director-General of Population Policy at the Ministry of Health and Welfare, Deputy Commissioner of the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency, and Presidential Secretary for Low Birth Rate Policy. He also earned a Ph.D. in Social Policy from the University of Kent in the UK, establishing himself as an expert in social policy.

■ 대학 혁신 및 도정 연계 비전(Vision for University Innovation and Policy Alignment)

최종균 총장은 “중앙부처 근무 경험을 바탕으로 강원도립대학교의 혁신과 성장을 선도하겠다”며, “‘1도 1국립’ 실현을 차질 없이 준비하고, 도의 정책 방향과 연계하여 ‘강원 라이즈(RISE)’ 추진에도 최선을 다하겠다”는 포부를 밝혔다.
President Choi Jong-gyun stated, “Drawing on my experience in central government ministries, I will lead the innovation and growth of Gangwon Provincial University. I will diligently prepare for the realization of the ‘One Province, One National University’ initiative and commit fully to advancing the ‘Gangwon RISE’ program in alignment with the province’s policy direction.”

김진태 도지사는 “강원도립대학교는 지역 인재를 양성하는 핵심 교육기관”이라며, “그간의 경험을 토대로 도립대를 특성화하고 한 단계 더 도약시키는 견인차 역할을 해주기를 기대한다”고 말했다.

Governor Kim Jin-tae remarked, “Gangwon Provincial University serves as a central institution for cultivating local talent. I anticipate that, leveraging his extensive experience, President Choi will specialize the university and act as a driving force to elevate it to the next level.”
