강원특별자치도, 8월 경제스터디에서 반도체 미래 전략 논의

강원특별자치도가 반도체 산업 발전 전략을 놓고 머리를 맞댔습니다.

On August 26, Gangwon Province gathered to discuss strategies for advancing the semiconductor industry.

26일 오후 2시 30분, 소담스퀘어 글로벌디지털스튜디오에서 열린 ‘8월 강원 경제스터디’는 “반도체 시장 동향과 발전 방안”을 주제로 진행됐습니다.

The “August Gangwon Economic Study” was held at the Global Digital Studio in Sodam Square at 2:30 p.m., focusing on “Semiconductor Market Trends and Development Strategies.”

이날 행사에는 김진태 도지사를 비롯해 지역 경제단체, 기업 관계자, 공무원 등 약 80명이 참석했습니다.

About 80 participants, including Governor Kim Jin-tae, local business groups, company officials, and public officials, joined the event.

“3년 전엔 불모지, 지금은 10개 국비사업 중”

“From Nothing Three Years Ago to Ten National Projects Today”

김진태 도지사는 “강원도는 3년 전만 해도 반도체 기반이 전혀 없었지만, 지금은 국비 지원을 받는 10개 사업을 추진 중”이라며 “이제는 다 같이 힘을 합칠 때”라고 강조했습니다.

Governor Kim stated, “Gangwon had no foundation in semiconductors just three years ago. Today, we’re running ten national projects. Now is the time to work together.”

전문가 강연: “메모리 강점 있지만, 시스템 반도체는 약하다”

Expert Lecture: “Strong in Memory Chips, But Weak in System Semiconductors”

강연자로 나선 왕성호 네메시스㈜ 대표는 반도체 산업의 흐름을 짚으면서, 한국은 메모리 반도체는 세계적 경쟁력을 갖췄지만 시스템 반도체(특히 팹리스 분야)에서는 아직 부족하다고 분석했습니다.

Wang Seong-ho, CEO of Nemesis Inc., explained that Korea is globally strong in memory semiconductors but still weak in system semiconductors, especially in the fabless sector.

그는 인재 양성, 차세대 스타 제품 개발, 글로벌 진출 확대가 필요하다며, AI, 자율주행, 바이오 반도체 같은 미래 유망 분야에서 산학연 협력을 강화해야 한다고 강조했습니다.

He stressed the need for talent development, next-generation flagship products, and global expansion, highlighting AI, autonomous driving, and bio-semiconductors as key future fields where industry-academia-research collaboration should be strengthened.

강원도의 투자와 성과

Gangwon’s Investment and Achievements

현재 강원도는 K-반도체 협력단지(클러스터) 조성을 위해 총 2,320억 원을 투자하고 있습니다.

Gangwon is currently investing KRW 232 billion (approx. USD 1.7 billion) to build a K-Semiconductor Cluster.

인력양성 분야: 7개 사업, 1,323억 원

테스트베드 분야: 3개 사업, 997억 원

Talent training: 7 projects worth KRW 132.3 billion

Testbeds: 3 projects worth KRW 99.7 billion

또한, 반도체 관련 7개 기업과 2,200억 원 규모의 투자 협약을 맺었고, 9개 대학·연구기관과도 협력체계를 강화했습니다.

The province also signed investment deals worth KRW 220 billion with seven semiconductor companies and strengthened cooperation with nine universities and research institutes.

쉽게 말해, 강원도는 “반도체 불모지”에서 출발했지만 지금은 전국적인 반도체 거점으로 도약 중입니다.

Simply put, Gangwon started as a “semiconductor wasteland,” but is now quickly rising as a national hub.
