강원도, 독일 연구기관과 손잡고 바이오헬스 글로벌 교두보 확보 도 방문단, 독일 HIPS 및 KIST 유럽연구소 방문… 공동연구·인력양성 협약 체결

 김진태 도지사와 김시성 도의장을 비롯한 강원도 대표단은 26일 오전 헬름홀츠신약개발연구소(HIPS)를 

방문해 바이오헬스 분야 업무협력을 협의하고, 연구소 시설을 둘러보고 있다.

강원특별자치도(도지사#김진태)는 6월 26일(한국시간), 독일 자를란트주 소재의 헬름홀츠 신약개발연구소(HIPS)와 한국과학기술연구원(KIST) 유럽연구소를 방문해, 바이오헬스 분야의 공동연구 및 산업육성을 위한 실질적 협력방안을 논의했다.

On June 26 (KST), Gangwon Province Governor Kim Jin-tae and his delegation visited the Helmholtz Institute for Pharmaceutical Research Saarland (HIPS) and the Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) Europe in Saarland, Germany, to explore practical cooperation in biohealth research and industry development.

이번 방문은 강원도가 추진 중인 ‘미래산업 글로벌 도시’ 비전 실현을 위한 첫 공식 일정으로, 유럽 네트워크 구축 및 바이오산업의 글로벌 진출 활로를 확보하는 데 목적이 있다.

This official visit marks the first step in Gangwon’s initiative to become a “Global City for Future Industries,” aiming to build a European network and open pathways for international expansion of its biohealth sector.

HIPS와의 협력: 미생물 기반 신약개발의 글로벌 접점

Partnership with HIPS: A Global Link in Microbial Drug Development

HIPS는 독일 최초의 제약특화 공공연구기관으로, 미생물 기반 천연물 신약개발, 항감염제 개발, 약물전달기술 등을 중점적으로 연구 중이다. 연구소장 롤프 뮐러 박사는 강원도와의 연구협력 가능성에 대해 강한 기대를 표명했다.

HIPS, Germany’s first public institute focused on pharmaceutical research, specializes in microbial natural product discovery, anti-infective development, and drug delivery systems. Director Rolf Müller expressed strong interest in research collaboration with Gangwon.

김진태 도지사는 “HIPS와 KIST 유럽연구소는 각각 독일과 한국을 대표하는 연구기관으로, 강원도와 함께 글로벌 삼각협력체계를 구축해 바이오헬스 산업을 선도해 나가겠다”고 밝혔다.

Governor Kim Jin-tae stated, “HIPS and KIST Europe represent the best of German and Korean research. Gangwon will form a strategic triangle with these institutions to lead innovation in the biohealth sector.”

KIST 유럽연구소와 MOU 체결: 국책사업부터 창업지원까지

MOU with KIST Europe: From National Projects to Startup Support

도 방문단은 이어 KIST 유럽연구소를 방문해 바이오헬스 산업 육성을 위한 업무협약(MOU)을 체결했다. 협약에는 △국책사업 협력 △공동 R&D 및 인력양성 △기술이전 및 창업지원 등이 포함된다.

The delegation then visited KIST Europe and signed an MOU covering collaboration on national projects, joint R&D and talent training, as well as support for technology transfer and startups.

#김시성 도의장은 “이번 협력이 구체화되면 강원 바이오산업의 글로벌 도약이 더욱 탄력을 받을 것”이라고 기대감을 나타냈다.

Chairman Kim Si-seong of the Provincial Assembly remarked, “This collaboration will provide strong momentum for Gangwon’s leap into the global biohealth arena.”

강원도는 향후 유럽 주요 국가 및 기관들과의 협력을 통해 바이오헬스를 중심으로 미래산업 전략을 글로벌 수준으로 확대해 나갈 계획이다.

Gangwon Province plans to further expand its future industry strategies, particularly in biohealth, through continued cooperation with major European institutions.
