강원특별자치도, '수도권 강원시대' 선포..심리적 거리감 허물고 수도권 인식 본격화

강원특별자치도(도지사#김진태)는 6월 17일(화) 오후 2시 30분, 서울 청계광장에서 ‘몸도 마음도 가까운 강원! 수도권 강원시대’ 선포식을 열고, 수도권 생활권으로서의 강원 정체성 정립에 나섰다.
On Tuesday, June 17 at 2:30 p.m., Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province (Governor Jin-tae Kim) held a declaration ceremony at Cheonggye Plaza in Seoul under the slogan, “Gangwon, Close in Body and Mind!” officially announcing the beginning of the “Greater Capital Era” and positioning Gangwon as part of the Seoul metropolitan lifestyle zone.

이번 행사는 서울에서 1시간대로 연결된 물리적 거리에도 불구하고, 여전히 ‘강원은 멀다’는 심리적 거리감이 뿌리 깊은 현실을 극복하기 위해 기획됐다.
The event was designed to address the lingering psychological perception that Gangwon is distant, despite improved infrastructure that has reduced travel time to Seoul to just about an hour.

이날 행사에는 김진태 도지사, 김시성 강원도의회 의장, 유상범 국회의원(홍천‧횡성‧영월‧평창), 서영충 한국관광공사 사장 직무대행 등 주요 인사가 참석했다.
Key attendees included Governor Jin-tae Kim, Chairman Si-seong Kim of the Gangwon Provincial Council, National Assembly member Sang-beom Yoo (representing Hongcheon, Hoengseong, Yeongwol, and Pyeongchang), and Young-chung Seo, Acting President of the Korea Tourism Organization.

서울‧경기‧인천 주민 500명을 대상으로 한 설문조사에서는 현실과 인식의 괴리가 뚜렷하게 나타났다.
A survey of 500 residents from Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Incheon revealed a stark gap between actual travel times and public perception.

Despite being closer than cities like Yongin or Hwaseong, Chuncheon and Wonju are still perceived as farther away-indicating that psychological distance is a major hurdle to integrating Gangwon into the metropolitan identity.
